Apple News Fails to Load After iOS 18.2 Installation

Apple News fails to load after iOS 18.2 install on 7 Gen iPad. Tried deleting and reinstalling news app, resetting network settings, pausing VPN, and a full reset, all without success. Any tips would be appreciated.

Same exact problem on iPad after 18.2 upgrade - mine is a paid Apple News account. Has anyone heard of a resolution to this bug?

The reset Region suggestion does not work. (7th Gen iPad, after going to ios18.2). BTW, I have tried closing the app, deleting and redownloading the app, several shutdown and restarts, signing out of iCloud, turning off and back on the app in iCloud settings, Reset Network Settings (though my iPad is WiFi only), and, of course, waiting. I have not yet tried to contact Apple.

I just upgraded to iPadOS 18.2 last night, and just tried to open the News app this morning and was frustrated because it would not open. My wife, who upgraded as well, does not experience the problem on her iPad.

I searched online for "iPadOS 18.2 news app not working" and -- lo and behold -- this thread was the first hit. I saw the comments referring to iPad Gen 7, and a quick check of the settings confirmed that that is my model. My wife's is a later one, go figure. So I am cursed like the rest of you. LOL!

I'm glad to know I am not he only one, although I am not too happy to know that it has been going on for over a week and still not solution is in place.

I tried all suggestions mentioned here, and none of them worked. Unfortunately, I too have an Apple News+ subscription, so that's adds insult to injury.

Thank you all who provided context of the problem, suggestions, and feedback from Apple Support.

I'm off to open a support ticket with them now ... wish me luck! (Eek!)

UPDATE: I chatted with an Apple Support representative and he responded as follows:

"Upon checking my resources, Apple is aware of the issue and that it is currently under review. Apple doesn't yet completely understand the issue. Therefore, Apple can't promise a solution or predict when an investigation will finish.

It is recommended to keep your device up to date as the resolution may come in the form of an update."
