HomePod (2) stuck in "resetting" loop

One of my HomePods started playing random music (often) in the middle of the night. It is now stuck in a "Your HomePod is about to reset. Keep pressing until you hear 3 beeps" loop. Without touching it, it starts the same process over and over. Red circling light on the display. From looking around it seems like a touch-sensor/software issue. I don't want to open to try and disconnect that cable. Running the current version of the software. 18.3.

Any suggestions appreciated.

First try unplugging for 15 seconds to restart it. If that doesn’t help see if you can fix it by doing a proper hard reset . Unplug it for over 24 hrs first, then plug back in and proceed as follows:

  1. Unplug HomePod or unplug the power adapter for HomePod mini, wait 10 seconds, then plug HomePod back in.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then touch and hold your finger to the top of HomePod.
  3. The white spinning light will turn red. Keep your finger down.
  4. Siri will say that your HomePod is about to reset. When you hear three beeps, you can lift your finger.

After you reset HomePod, you can set up HomePod again.

Same here, I'm thinking it's not a coincidence that many people started asking this at the same time, maybe a future update will fix it. I'll wait for 18.4 update and if it won't fix the problem, the only option left will be to disconnect the touch panel.
