I have changed my lock screen photo. It now has a light background. The date and time on the lock screen are now dark, look good, and are easy to read. But the icons at the very top, showing signal strength, wi-fi status, and battery level are still light, and I can barely make them out. How do I make those icons dark as well, so they can be read? iPhone 12 mini, iOS version 18.5.

The status bar's color on iPhone cannot be customized. Try a wallpaper that doesn't have so much of a light color in the top which makes the Status Bar illegible, or you can edit that wallpaper and manually process it to add some shadow at the top.
You can also let Apple know of your feedback below, where they will see it and if they receive enough responses on this issue, they may address it in a future update. I've already seen a few posts about this issue, and I can see it as beneficial.
