My iPhone is not charging after updating to iOS 18.6.2

Perform a Force Restart:

• Press and release Volume Up
• Press and release Volume Down
• Press and HOLD side button until Apple logo appears. This may take up to 15 seconds and you have to ignore anything else on the screen during that time. If you do not see the Apple Logo, try again.

Post what your Battery Health is at Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > Maximum Capacity.

Try with a different cord/charger

Schedule a genius appointment.

Apple will NOT read this, as you are simply posting to other users just like you. Not sure what region you are in, but if you want immediate diagnosis then you are best to take it to the Apple Store where all of your equipment can be tested to determine the cause.

It is possible for Apple to perform some remote diagnostics, but I think in your case it would be to be able to do hands-on tests.

Force your iPhone to restart:

I’m experiencing the same issue. After 18.6.2 update my iPhone has stopped charging. Tried the reset method, no change.

What I found that works temporarily, is to restart my iPhone. After that I can charge my phone - same cable and charger. But when I try to charge my phone again later on in the day, it won’t charge again unless I restart. Very annoying 😡😮‍💨

Nothing is going to improve until you make an appointment at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop for an on-site diagnosis.

your battery is totally shot. Have it replaced.

I’m also having this issue. I got my phone 5 months ago. New. No damage to the phone, phone charger, or power cord (all Apple products and in perfect condition). No issues till the update. It will charge on 3rd party adaptor. I tried turning off Energy Charging to see if that resolved the issue.

Did this and it was after the update that the battery has had issues. Currently at Apple Store and they said they can't fix it given the phone can't even turn on anymore. Need to do a mid-system replacement (replacing all the inside, leaving only screen, camera and back untouched). If i didn't have apple care, it would have costed me USD 700+.

I’m having the same issue after update. Started with phone saying there was water in the port (which there never was at any point on all occasions) now it just doesn’t charge unless I hard reset the phone every time before charging. Currently still charges by wireless pads.

I updated again to 18.7 and still have the problem with slow charging and not being able to charge using battery backups (even new one i bought thinking other not good). Whatever they did in beginning of August update just screwed up the charging capabilities of my iphone 13 Pro Max. Can only use direct cable to phone to charge nothing else. And i like others here have tried the resetting, etc. suggestions and nothing works.

Mines doing the same thing. Tried about 6-7 different type c cords, 4 of them official apple cords a few that weren’t

It completely died and only charged using a QI charger. Up to 30% after 3 hours. I’m trying to download the ios26 update to see if it fixes it. I’ll let you know.

I’ve had this phone since January, it worked and charged yesterday perfectly fine. Until I went to work and it started draining.

it’s also drained 2% in the last 8 minutes. Idk what’s going on but this is ridiculous

The topic of this thread is that the phone is not charging.

Please start a new post if you are unable to update the software on your phone. Include details about what model of iPhone that you have, what you have tried so far, etc.
