My iPhone is not charging after updating to iOS 18.6.2

I am also experiencing this issue and it's awful. My phone is basically useless after updating to 18.6.2. It will not charge except a tiny bit on a cheap 3rd party wireless clock charger. It won't play any podcasts or music or book. No apple charging cable works, and I keep getting the error "Battery not Recognized", despite never replacing my battery. I have an iphone 13 mini.

I have done every technical solution possible and I am in the queue for days to get call backs from a technician. Now they want to get photos to check my cables. Are you serious? Who has time to talk for days with a technican when it's obvious that the patch broke something.

(about 10 years ago, the reason I left the Pixel was for an update that ruined my phone)

I have a iPhone 13 mini. Worked perfectly fine pre the latest iOS update (18.6.2). Now my phone doesn’t charge via a lightning cable at all (either via plug in wall or via pc). The cable works with my other iPhone (which is a iPhone 14) which I have not updated to latest ios(still in 18.6.1).

why is this happening? I’ve tried a hard reset (volume up/down, right button) but not changed anything.

frustrating there is no ability to roll back updates when critical things like this happen for no explanation

Ok update the 14, then come back with the result; you are in a unique position to prove it is the update or not.

A bit different issue on iphone 13 but relevant to the battery.

My problem is that wireless charging has stopped working immediately after the latest update to 18.2.6. I've tried several wireless charging points and none work. Charging through cable still works.

I've followed the advice here and Forced a restart with no change.

Apple Pay contactless has also stopped working.

Turning off Energy Charging did nothing. My phone is still not charging. I tried the power cycle above and it did nothing to help either. I’m guessing a new update won’t change anything. My husband’s phone has been having trouble for a little bit and we couldn’t figure out why…. I’m guessing it was an update. This is not okay. I hope Apple has a way to resolve this without me having to buy a brand new phone 5 months after buying a brand new phone… How often does this happen? I can think of multiple times over the last 20 years that my Apple device has suddenly stopped working properly. Were these issues all from updates as well???? I just feel like Apple is purposely sabotaging its user’s products… is this true Apple???

Same thing is happening to me, only wireless charging, luckily i had a cheap chinese wireless charger at home, but im going to the apple store. i cant be waiting 8 hours for my phone to wireless fully charge.

Same problem since updated to 18.6.2 battery charging horrible, only certain cable—what worse, used backup battery case and now it will neither charge at all nor will the case charge the phone. Even bought another new battery case and cables to no avail. I have tried everything noted on this thread, nothing helps. Apple, please throw iOS fix quickly.

Mine too. Charging super slow after last update 18.6.2 and my battery backup case I usually have that gives me two additional full charges won’t charge iPhone 13 when in case! Don’t tell me case bad, bought a new one, fully charged it, put phone in and won’t charge phone. Have tried everything every one is putting on thread, nothing works. Hope APPLE reads this and get an update out quickly. My phone has been plugged in all morning and barely 88%.

I had the exact same issue. I tried charging my phone at the office, but it didn't work, so i assumed it was an issue with the cable at the office. Didn't pay notice of it until my iPhone 16 pro died at around 10:30pm in the evening. Been trying to charge it, but it's been over 3 hours since (currently 2am), and i still can't turn it on. Can't force reset the phone either. All I get when i try to turn it on is the red empty battery and the cable (which i read online saying it means it is charging).

I have no way of turning it back on at the moment, and it's really frustrating since I need it for both personal use and work.

Any advice/tricks that could help would be much appreciated. Besides that, i'm now going to have to take the morning off to get this sorted at the apple store first.

I also have this issue.

The update applied and rebooted my iphone wthout any notification in the middle of the day, after this my iphone 13 is not charging anymore this was a just buyed two months ago and I must say this update looks like a ransomware.

To whom I need to pay to restore my iphone to the previos version?

I’m having the same issue. After updating my iPad Air it would no longer charge and now cannot be turned on at all. Genius Bar said it’s not the charging port and only offered me the “opportunity” to buy a new iPad. No fix mentioned, wouldn’t say that it could have been a result of the update. I’m 6 months out of warranty.

I am facing this issue too on iphone 16 pro. Only wireless charging is working. Everything was working fine before 18.6.2 update. Tried restarts but no luck. Any resolution for this? Thanks!
