New phone, charged to 80% and then started kicking up overheating warnings. It’s not physically hot, but won’t charge past 80%. New iPhone 17 Pro.
Ironically I replaced my 15 Pro Max due to overheating issues.

That is normal and it is not actually overheating. The phone fast charges to 80%, then cools down and will continue to charge to full. Fast Charging generates heat and the cool down period is to protect your battery. The message you see on your phone is just informational and is not indicating a problem.

If it really were an overheating message, you would see a big red thermometer in the center of your screen. Is that what you are seeing?
If not, you are seeing a normal status message. Nothing to be concerned about.
If the phone continues to not charge past 80%, check to see if you might have the Charge Limit set to 80%.
