iPhone 8 unable to verify iOS 16.7.13 update

I have been unable to update my iPhone 8 to iOS 16.7.13. The update seems to download OK; but when I try to install it, I am consistently given a message stating that it was unable to verify the update, and I should try again later.

I have twice deleted the update, and re-downloaded it. This has made no difference.

To the best of my knowledge, Apple has not, as of 9 AM Eastern time in US, re-released an updated version. The old version was removed by Apple. When it is re-released you’ll need to delete the old version if downloaded, restart your device, and download the new version, when available. It may not be until early next week before an updated version is available.

hi i have trouble with my iphone 8 plus and i can’t update the software updates won’t updates my ios 16.7.13 and i tried to shut off and turn it back on and i even deleted app and please fix it so can update my software ios 16.7.13

The update is no longer signed by Apple due to a problem with a cell provider in Australia, so you cannot update to that version. It will still show on your device as available, but you are not able to install it. You will just need to wait and it may be the case that another point update will be pushed out and you would then see that one as available and if you have Automatic Updates turned on, it will be installed automatically. Just continue on and use your device like you always have, your phone is not in jeopardy because the update is not installed.

Update

The update will not verify when attempting to install because there was a problem with a particular cell provider in Australia and Apple is not signing the update. At this point there is nothing you need to do even though in Settings you will see an update available. Your phone is not in jeopardy of any security concerns as you saw in the Support Article you posted where it says: This update has no published CVE entries. Just be patient until another point update replaces it or they choose to sign the update again.

Screwed if I have to wait that long. My iphone 8+ has the "vertifying update..." message but phone is frozen - cant power off, screen doesnt respond. When I try to reboot, holdIng keys on both sides, I get the power down icon but its useless bc the screen doesnt work. When i press emergency call, i see call being placed with a timer, but no way to access it. The power button and home button respond in a v limited way only, to turn on and off the screen. Iphobe can charge tho.

You need to do a Force Restart.

  • Press and quickly release Volume Up
  • Press and quickly release Volume Down
  • Press and HOLD side button until the Apple logo appears. This could take up to 15 seconds while holding the Side button before you see the Apple logo and you have to ignore anything else on the screen. If you do not see the Apple logo, then try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

You need to hard reset the phone: press and release volume up button press and release volume down button press and hold power button until the Apple logo appears.

Hard reset....(Apple calls this a Forced Restart).....will not help the current issue.

What will help the current issue is to delete the update and then wait for a corrected release from Apple.

Tap Settings > General > iPhone Storage

Scrol down to locate the update and delete it
