iPhone 17 Pro Max Wi-Fi dropping after iOS 26.4 update

Hello,

after upgrading to iOS 26.4 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max, I started experiencing Wi-Fi issues. The connection to my home network keeps dropping, making it unusable.

I’ve already tried the common fixes suggested on YouTube, Reddit, and other forums, but nothing has worked so far.

Are there any specific recommendations from Apple or known solutions for this issue?

For reference, I also upgraded an iPhone 16 at the same time, and it is not affected by this problem.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Lorenzo

Not sure if you've resolved this, but i had the same Wi-Fi issue and was able to fix it.

I'm on a iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 26.4

TLDR: i went into the iPhone's Wi-Fi settings and set the device IP address to manual.

I tried this because i noticed in my wifi settings, the IP address my iPhone was getting dynamically via DHCP was not in the same IP range as my home network.

I manually entered an available IP address, set subnet to 255.255.255.0, and Router IP accordingly.

The same method fixed my iPad Pro (wifi only model) from disconnecting as well.

Not sure if this will work for everyone, but hope this helps.

iPhone 17 Pro Max Wi-Fi dropping after iOS 26.4 update

To the OP and ALL those Affected:

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

I conducted a thorough search of this forum using the term 'WiFi after iOS' and uncovered numerous posts detailing similar issues across various iOS updates. This suggests that iOS updates may not consistently be the root cause. Below are a handful of examples extracted from over 4,000 search results:

"After iOS 17.4.1" will be an addition to this list posted by you.

When you attribute every glitch or slowdown, or feature availability on your device to an iOS update, you risk overlooking other potential causes that may be specific to your hardware or settings. Updates often become the “easy scapegoat,” but not all issues originate from the operating system itself.

I’ve been having the same problem since upgrading to my 17 ProMax. Doesn’t matter which WiFi, Home, work, neighbors. I disconnect, even deleted, Nord VPN. No change. Turn off Wifi and Goto the towers and immediate connection. The problem isn’t consistent but it’s a problem enough that I now usually run with WiFi off. I’m completely up to date with OS updates

Help Please

note. My 17proMax is straight from Apple and it directly replaced my IPhone 11 Pro on the AT&T network. I had no problems with my 11Pro

WiFi Drop issues are not always the fault of the iOS update!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Hello SravanKrA,

Thank you for you time and four messages.

I’m not claiming the issue is definitely caused by the iOS 26.4 upgrade. I’m just reporting what happened: the phone worked perfectly on 26.3, then right after the update it started having Wi-Fi problems. That’s all.

Nothing else changed. Same router, same Wi-Fi configuration, same environment. It was raining, but I’d be surprised if that’s now a known root cause for Wi-Fi issues… wouldn’t you?

I’ve been an Apple customer for a long time, so I’m confident it will get fixed. But usually, the first step toward fixing a problem is acknowledging it exists.

Thanks,

Lorenzo

P.S. The phone is not jailbroken.
