iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

Windows Vista, iOS 4

After trying all of the mentioned suggestions about a million times I was still not able to get my Ipod touch to start up, so I went to online support to set up an appointment. I found the following fix that worked.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. It starts by saying to hold down the power and home key at the same time, but keep reading and you will find the next fix which is to unplug the usb connection from your ipod (leave it plugged into your computer) and then while holding down the home button plug the usb cord back into the ipod. If you see a low battery indicator let it charge for 10 minutes and then as in my case the phone worked fine, or if need be hold down the power and home key at the same time and then follow onscreen prompts to finish restoring the ipod. Good luck!

for those of you that have 2nd gen touches and it wont turn on i had the same problem it normally is when you run the battery flat it sometimes automatically puts it into recovery mode so you have to restore you device this happened to my iphone 4 also it is simply fixed by ensuring the cable is connected to your laptop and touch with itunes open you will see that it wont recognise the device when i had the problem my device would only have the apple logo show and wouldnt go past that and itunes didnt pick it up so at this point hold the lock and home key in and do not let go untill itunes picks up your device saying found ipod in recovery mode you must restore to factory settings click continue this will restore it to factory and will show up as a new device in itunes now it will then ask if you want restore from the last backup of that device or start as new and say backup and it will sync everything back to the way it was before it had a mad fit hope this works for you all on here that have posted about this problem if not im sorry but your device must be dead 😟
