iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

this doesn't really go out specifically to you missy, just can't find a button to post...

anyways my ipod died on me...2 days later i put it to charge for about 2-3 hrs. i know it was charging because it lit up like it always does after 30 seconds even though it had powered down 2 days before. when i tried to turn it on after this 2-3 hr charge it wouldn't turn on. i know that your suppose to hold dwn the lock button in order to turn it back on...i did this. i also held down the main button in the center for about a minute...no luck.

my ipod is a 8gb touch. not sure which generation. there are stuff on it that i can't replace...if anyone had a similar problem and it got solved please reply.

also as mch as i don't want to ask...do you think the screen could have burnt out? i used the proper charger for the ipod i'm sure, but the back of it still heated up when i took it off the charger

Mine powers off at random times usually when I'm in the middle of something and then takes a minute or two to come back on. I've gone thru a number of steps on my 3rd gen iTouch: restore, update to the latest version of iTunes (which is ridiculous. Though I guess that's Apple's way of forcing everyone into Lion eventually?), cleared settings, changed dock connectors, etc.

This is my 5th iPod. The first was 1st gen Nano which worked beautifully. I have a 2nd gen Shuffle that's slow in response, a 5th gen Nano that replaced the 1st but its click wheel pales in comparison to the 1st gen Nano's and it loses the song it was on if it gets bumped in the slightest. The quality of this line has gone down. One might say that with Apple shifting focus and resources to the iPhone/iPad, this is inevitable. But how about the millions of users out there who want to keep these older devices? And I know that the new kids on the block have issues too.

I see this post started almost 2.5 years ago. Does Apple actually read the forums or are they too busy counting their billions? I'm going to be getting a new cellphone soon and it was going to be an iPhone. But if I think that this random shutdown issue is a persistent issue on all iOS devices that Apple seems to ignore, I'll be looking at Droid or maybe Nokia's new Lumia. I don't want to lose an important phone call (and client) if calls keep getting shut down.
