iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

I have a 32gb, 4th gen ipod touch. The home button is broken as well, so I can't use the reboot function. Plugging it into my comp didn't do anything, and it didn't show up in itunes either. Is there another way to reboot/recover it without using the home button or something? I'll go check with a "genius" some time soon, but I don't want to spend money if I can't help it...

My gen4 64g lost all it's music and wouldn't sync after I updated to iOS6. Hard reboot didn't work. Reseting the settings didn't work. I finally got frustrated enough to reset it to factory settings and now it goes to the black boot up screen, brings up the silver progress bar, loads about a centimeter of the two inches or whatever it is, and stops. Just freezes. Stays stuck; black screen, silver apple, tiny fraction of the progress. bar. Something screws up every time they release an iOS update. One would think I would learn...

The most infuriating part is that Apple not only won't acknowledge their screwed up code; they want to CHARGE for support! Kindle Fire looks better every day. I'm just glad I didn't update my iPad =\

You're solution sounds like it worked for most people, but unfortunately I can't try it due to the fact that my home button is broken, and I've been using assistive touch. My ipod touch 4g says that it needs to be connected to itunes when I try to turn it on. I've been on itunes for a while, but I don't think it has recognized my ipod yet. When I try to turn it on it has the apple logo, but then it's replaced with a usb cable, and an arrow leading up to the itunes icon. What do i do??? 😟
