Try holding the home button for about 3 seconds, continue holding it and plug it in to your computer. That should put it into recovery mode, and from there you can restore it with iTunes. Tell me if that doesn't work.
I have a 32gb, 4th gen ipod touch. The home button is broken as well, so I can't use the reboot function. Plugging it into my comp didn't do anything, and it didn't show up in itunes either. Is there another way to reboot/recover it without using the home button or something? I'll go check with a "genius" some time soon, but I don't want to spend money if I can't help it...
Thank you so much, it worked.
I tried that and my ipod(4th gen 32gb) still won't turn on
my ipod touch 4g power button does not work if my battry dies will it turn back on by it self of do i not let it die
thanks mattwilson2012
plz help me
My gen4 64g lost all it's music and wouldn't sync after I updated to iOS6. Hard reboot didn't work. Reseting the settings didn't work. I finally got frustrated enough to reset it to factory settings and now it goes to the black boot up screen, brings up the silver progress bar, loads about a centimeter of the two inches or whatever it is, and stops. Just freezes. Stays stuck; black screen, silver apple, tiny fraction of the progress. bar. Something screws up every time they release an iOS update. One would think I would learn...
The most infuriating part is that Apple not only won't acknowledge their screwed up code; they want to CHARGE for support! Kindle Fire looks better every day. I'm just glad I didn't update my iPad =\
What do i have to do to get my ipod fixed after it heated up and then won't turn on. It's not even a year old.
You're solution sounds like it worked for most people, but unfortunately I can't try it due to the fact that my home button is broken, and I've been using assistive touch. My ipod touch 4g says that it needs to be connected to itunes when I try to turn it on. I've been on itunes for a while, but I don't think it has recognized my ipod yet. When I try to turn it on it has the apple logo, but then it's replaced with a usb cable, and an arrow leading up to the itunes icon. What do i do??? 😟
If you're battery dies, and ur power button does not work it will still turn on as long as u plug it in, once it has charged for long enough it will turn on again.
my touch 4th gen wont turn on i plug it into the power source and all it does is show the battery dead with a lighten bolt underneath it and ive left on there for days and nothing, ive also done the pressing the home button and power button but nothing it goes away for two seconds and then the battery pops right back up but it doesnt show it the whole time like normal it goes away until i press the home button...ughhh help nothings working
The same thing is happening to me it goes to the plug and Itunes symbol and then shuts off again..
have you figured anything that has helped
If you haven't already tried already on your device, plug it in to a power source leave it for a couple minutes and hold the home and sleep button together at the same time
