iPod Touch won't turn on !!

i have an ipod touch 4 and it automatically switched off 2 times yesterday.....however it turned on when i pressed the sleep awake button....today morning when i checked it out i found out that its completely switched off.....i tried to switch it on but it is not working.....IS THERE ANYWAY T SWITCH IT ON AGAIN....I FOUND OUT THAT YOU HELPED ANOTHER PERSON WITH AN IPOD...PLEASE THINK OF A WAY TO HELP ME TOO...THIS IPOD MEANS A LOT TO ME.

I can help, but I need to know one thing... Will a computer recognize it? If you dont have a computer readliy available there is something else you may try: Hold the home+power buttons until the Apple logo appears. This should be no longer than thirty seconds.

You can try to put into recovery mode by holding the home button and plugging the usb coard into the device (Has to be connected to a computer not power) Try the other methods first like holding both buttonds.

If you have this problem, and the home+power and syncing things don't work, you could just let the battery drain. My ipod died a couple months ago and my home button is jammed. My computer also doesn't recognize it. As you can see, it would be impossible to fix my ipod with any of these methods. But after letting it sit for a month, the battery ran out, and it became responsive again. Hope this helps anyone. It isn't the most time efficient method, but it should work no matter what.

Well, you could install a program alled tinyumbrella and click ecit recovery. I do not no if this will work but it is my only idea.

My ipod is stuck on the apple sign, So I let the battery die out and try again, but it's still stuck and nothing works.

Try restoring it with iTunes. If this doesn't work consult google or YouTube for instructions on how to put the device into dry for a restore.

Hi, I have an iPod Touch 4th gen. It was working fine. It was charging on my Macbook last night and then I realized that it wasn't showing the charging symbol. I checked my iTunes directly and there was no device at all. I thought it was the charger cable, so this morning I switched to another, newer one. Nothing is working. I held both the top "lock" and bottom "home" buttons for 40 seconds at the same time, as well as held one at a time for 40 seconds. I can't restore it to fctory settings because my computer doesn't recognize it. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens when I plug it in. My screen is black and I haven't seen the Apple logo at all. This happened before when it updated to the newest software, but it turned back on with all the tips that are on this thread. Now, nothing is happening. This was the first time I plugged it into my iTunes since iTunes decided to update itself to the latest version [I believe it's 11]. Do you know anything that will help? I don't even know if my battery is working or not. When I plugged it in yesterday, the battery was dead because I hadn't used it in a week or so.

same thing happened to me and it only shows the battery sign when its plugged in, otherwise it wont show anything.. have you fixed yours yet ?

I just had the same issue today with my iPod touch (1st gen) as well. I tried everything, from pressing the two buttons for 40 seconds or more, to plugging it up to the computer leaving it there and hoping it resets. But what I did was, I plugged my iPod into my computer made sure iTunes was on and I pressed & held the two buttons (while connected) and it came on with the picture asking you to connect to iTunes as if it was a brand new iPod. I had to restore it, but I was just glad it worked!!

Ok Wiered. Same for me on my new 😍iTouch 5g 64Gb. All was fine at first but one morning after leavig wire connected while playing on iTunes all night long I noticed the ipod was seriously hot when i disconnected the cord. Having set it somewhere to cool off for the day, i'm not sure but i think that was when i noticed the start of my forever black😢 dead to everything ipod touch. HELP! im lost without my iTouch!😕

Mini Chew was on the right track, checking the charger cable. I found out mine was bad by process of elimination. This fooled me for a while. iPod dead, holding buttons in doesn't help, it's plugged into the computer, but computer doesn't recognize it, yikes! Then I plugged in another cable, and all the same symptoms--but I thought, well, if the first cable was bad, iPod's battery would be would be dead, dead, dead. So it would need to sit for a while plugged in on the second cable. Sure enough, after about 15 minutes, the screen lit up with the "charging" screen. Now charged up and all is well.

I'm having this exact same problem now! Did you ever figure out a way to fix it???

Before I went to bed, I plugged in my iPod Touch 5th gen, I let it charge overnight. The next morning I tried turning it on and it didn't turn on. I tried putting it in DFU mode and it suddenly responded and turned on.

DFU Mode:

Press and hold the home button for 3 seconds.

Then without letting go of the home button, press the power button for 10 seconds.

Letting go of the home button but not the power button, hold the power button for 10 seconds or so.
