iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

I replaced my iPod with new one. Had no options left just this one. Shame on me, I am IT person and do not have a backup 😠 , have to restore and reinstall all apps tasks etc...etc etc.. Talked to sales rep and was told it happens from time to time, unfortunately she did not tell me if it either software issue or hardware issue. If it is software - it could be fixed by patching it, if that hardware then we face an issue :-). This is my first expirience with Apple product.

Same issue.. only noticed it today..

5th Gen iPod touch 64gb, bought in december.. but havn't used it all that much

it goes off on its own and needs a hard reset to come on.. happened twice today.

i just finished chatting with Apple customer support, they want me to do a software restore, if it still happens, then its a hardware problem..

im updating software to 6.1 now and doing a restore, hope its fixed!

Im also experiencing this problem with my ipod touch 3rd generation (8g). It would be fully charged worjking just fine then out of no where it freezes for hours then the screen goes black and it doesnt show anything on the screen for several more hours. then it shows that it is dead even though it was just fully charged! The home button and power button helps but i want to stop my ipod from doing this because its happened 3 times already even though Ive charged it whenever the battery became dead. could it just be because my ipod is old (3years old)!?

I have the same problem too. I was listening to music and then all the sudden I couldn't hear the music, I didnt know what was happening so I went over to my ipod and felt that the speaker and the bottom of the ipod was really hot; then all of the sudden the ipod turn off by its self I tried to charge it and it shows its charging but its actually not charging. Then I tried to turn it back on and it won't turn on, I tried to reset it but it doesn't work either, I even try to plug it to my computer and itunes won't recognize it. What's going on with my ipod? I have never had a problem like this.

Thanks.

Happening to me atm! It gets very hot, but never turned off because it's hot. It shut down because of the battery, the battery died so obviously the screen went black. The reason it died is because it was not charged, but when I tried to charge it, nothing would happen. Now its been dead for a day and I can't do anything. No one in my family has the special 5th generation charger so now i'm stuck.
