ok thanks i will try that (i just charged it via usb cable on computer's)
and have you got any ideas on how much it would cost to replace the battery from any local shops (as i think htta might have died completely if the way you said doesnt work)
It usually cost around $80 for a local Apple store to do the job. You may get other shops that can do it for around $60 but the thing is, you want a place that does a lot of them so they know what mistakes not to make.
From the sounds of it, yours is pretty beat up. If you are good with your hands and patient, view videos off the net on how to change the battery on them and give it a go yourself. May as well replace the cracked screen in the process. Or sell it and let someone else go through the hassle and go for a new one.
Thanks www2000! Suggesting that I use an apple plug instead of another brand of plug end worked! I've been using any random USB wall charger to charge the iPod. When the iPod would not charge or be recognized by the computer I was still trying to use one of the other USB wall chargers. Once I switched to an Apple wall charger (it was the charger from my original click wheel ipod) it sprang back to life. The charging indicator came back on and within 10 min, I was up and running. It appears any apple wall charger will work. Thanks again!
I am very glad that has worked for someone else! You saying it has worked for you and giving thanks, makes the whole process of signing up just to share that answer, well worth it.
I appreciate you taking a minute to share your experiece, Thank You!
wow i hope i am as lucky as you!
this is not to jekel_09. i have a 2nd g and it only turns on to wall charger but not to computers. it is disabled and trying to restore it but i cant get bit to turn on when connected to my computer
If you hold the home button and the power buttons the same time for about a minute or more if needed, it will turn back on. I just tried it and it worked. I had to do this to my phone before too.
Hi, Thank you so much, this worked perfectly for my sons ipod. 🙂
This is just to anyone,
My little brother has a 3 months old itouch 5th gen, 32 g.
I've tried all your genius methods and I wouldn't have found such a thing.
But his itouch just won't go on.
Has anyone another idea.
Everything I can try is really welkom.
Greats,
Yuri
Holding the home button and the power buttons the same time, just worked for my son's iPod !! Thank you, than you, thank you.
Now the question is ... Why is this problem so common? Thanks again to all who posted
i tried everything that you said but nothing happened...
i have the newest ipod and i lost it for about a year and a few days and now i found it but it wont turn on .. help me ?
I have a 8GB iPod touch 4th generation and today he decided to turn off and sleep forever... 😀 in other words, he doesnt turn on anymore. Tried charging him, conecting him to my PC but the PC doesnt recognize him. And i cant try to hold the home button and the turn-off-button at the same time beacause my home button is broken!
Can somebody help me?
Have tried holding the on/off button and home button at the same time and my ipod touch will not turn back on. Apple wants to charge $40.00 just to talk to you about it and that is ridiculous. Going to get rid of my iphone as well since these updates have just slowed it down and it ***. Expected much more from apple. Can someone help with this issue if you have found another solution. Thank you!
thanks man that really helped on my ipod touch 5th gen🙂
My home button on my 5th gen iPod touch is stuck in the frame so its hard for me to press
