iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

yeah my ipod had a tiny bit of charge, then when it ran out, it died. but when i charged it, it wouldn't turn back on to show that it was charging, when i used a wall charger and the computer connector. but i did that thing where you hold the HOME and LOCK button for a few seconds and it worked:)
problem is, my whole ipod has been reset, so i have to put all the music and apps back on :/

Yes, I'm replying to my own post! I called Apple and they gave me instructions for sending it back. They agreed that I had a defective unit. Sent me a replacement, no charge. So far, looking good and battery lasts a lot longer. Wish I had done this earlier. But, the "new" replacement is running the older software. We'll see what happens when I apply the upgrade.

The same thing happened to me! I put my iPod touch 4th gen down on the couch, picked up the remote to search for a movie on TV, and then when I picked the iPod back up, it was dead! I've only had it 5 days.

Thanks, everybody, for the suggestion of the power/home buttons! I'm back in business....not to make sure I have all my pics and videos on the computer in case this happens again.

I had mine for 4 months and yesterday I was playing a game on my iPod 32go 3th generation when the battery went flat. I pluged it on 2 computers with 2 different threads (cables) and I also pluged it with 2 different 'wall plugs' and it didn't work... When I pluged it on my computer, iTunes didn't recognized my iPod... is my iPod 'dead'? (sorry for my english, that's not my first language).
