iPod Touch won't turn on !!

My friends iPod Touch (generation 2) is having a similar issue where it won't start up at all. He said his wife was deleting things off of it, and it just shut off and wouldn't shut back on. I've tried restarting it, I have it connected to the laptop I'm currently using right now, but the laptop won't even recognize that there's anything attached to it via any of the USB ports. As such, I can't restore it through iTunes.

Occasionally, it will show that there's low battery, despite being plugged in constantly. And when it does, it varies between a black screen, and the apple logo. I've also noticed that there are times where it seems to be trying to load something, because it will show the Apple logo with a loading circle (not quite sure how else to explain it) underneath it.

I'm not entirely sure how exactly one could delete anything important from the iPod Touch itself, but nothing that I've been trying has helped it. Any ideas from anyone?

Everyone I've seen is an idiot. Hold the power button and the home button for at least ten seconds, then the apple logo should appear. Youre welcome.

As to the power button and home button at same time, will it delete any info? I have countless photos and drawings not to mention over 60 apps on there, it'd take forever to put it all back and thats just with the apps. The photos and drawings are irreplacible and unable to put back on

I turned my iPod off and then tried to turn it back on and it froze with the little apple in the middle... Holding the power button and home button seemed to do something for me, but then it froze again 😟

phew. im all good. my ipod is restored and back to normal. er- more or less.

same problem here.
the only thing I know for sure the battery died, because the power cord got broken and I couldn't charge my i-pod (3rd, 32 Gb). it stayed off for couple weeks, then I got a new cord, even two. but none of them seems to work. I tried another one. and another. still nothing.at first, holding home and power button would make a "low battery" sign show up on the screen. but after a couple more weeks of trying to charge it with different cords I got nowhere... That's annoying.. probably will have to go to apple store.. ahhh..

Same! Ipod touch 8gb had about half of battery left but then next day it just didn't turn on, still won't. Don't know what to do 😟

Just wanted to add that mine did this too, in case Apple is keeping track of such things (I'm hopeful they are). Holding the reset and home button for about 10 seconds worked though and thankfully I didn't lose any data.

Same thing happened to me: my iPod touch (4th) suddenly died on me, while fully charged.
Anyways, after I panicked, I pressed the Home and Start buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY for about 15 seconds, while connected to the power outlet and the Apple appeared.

Worked for me (and other people) 🙂

I have the same problem for my Ipod touch 2G. I restored it and updated the software maybe a week or two ago and now it won't open!!

I tried pressing the home and power button simultaneously but still no luck..

Does anyone know any other solution? 😟

thank you so much you guys! i had just bought my Ipod touch (8g, 4g) a week ago, and i started to really freak out when it just suddenly stopped working, and i couldnt get it to turn back on again no matter what i did. I was just about to go to the Apple store and exchange for a new one, when i decided to search it up first. Its astounding that its happening to so many people. Apple obviously needs to fix this reoccurring problem. Thanks again!

My 4th generation 8gb ipod that I got at Christmas wouldn't turn on this am. I plugged it in to the computer, it started to charge, showed the Apple logo and then it started up. Now I can't shut it off! I've tried the on/off/Homekey process and that doesn't help either. I tried pressing the Homekey button as I plugged it in, and that doesn't work. Am considering the hammer-applied-smartly-to-the-ipod approach next.

did u ever get ur ipod to work mine is doing the same thing and i tried pressing and holding the home and sleep buttons and it didnt work.. if u got urs working if u could tell me how that would be great.... thank you
