Being both an ipod and ipad owner (both are required for work and study), I had no option but to use my daughters netbook to update to IOS 5. I had to transfer over all my data to her netbook in order to reload both devices . Out of the five Win 7 64 systems in my office - none will accept 10.5.

About 30 minutes ago I bought an HTC Sensation XE phone. It was supposed to be an iphone 4s, but due to Apples lack of comment on this issue - I decided I could not be stuck in a business environment with an Apple product with no support.

The ipod is for leisure, however the ipad forms a part of my presentation kit. The phone is my lifeline to earnings.

Hi guys,
Ive had a similar problem,
i tried to update itunes and it firstly popped up with an error message (unfortunately cannot remember what it was) and so it never updated
then everytime I opened up itunes it would tell me that itunes was not installed properly. I then tried re installing it and un installing it and I could not.
I looked up a few things and was told to do a disk check. I did that and then I could uninstall it.
now I try to re install the new version and I get an error telling me about the temp directory and cannot install.
Please does anybody have any ideas.
I need it to update my iphone.
Thanks

How did you determine that "only a few of us are having trouble versus the majority"? I'm not trying to be disrepectful, trust me, but I don't see how you have determined that.

It's just a guess on my part, but I'm thinking that there are people "out there" who have no idea how to get over this problem, i.e., they have no technical skills and they are not the kind of people who would post on this forum. Instead, they would contact friends or PC experts/repair persons to "fix it".

If a person has consistently and successfully installed other programs for some time on their PC, and then cannot install iTunes, it somewhat leads a person to believe that Apple is the problem and not Microsoft. No one should have to do an OS re-install to get over this iTunes hurdle but that is what is happening for some.

Okay guys, I finally got it to work. I had to update my windows software. Go to start & type windows update then check for updates. The updates didn't install initally, I got an error message. I clicked "fix it" but that didn't work either but luckily they gave instructions to manually fix it which I did & it worked. My windows software successfully updated. I was then able to install iTunes 10.5 & update my iphone. I'm currently running Windows Vista on a Dell 64 bit. Hope this helps!
