weather widget not working
As of today, the standard Weather Widget is not updating on 10.5 or 10.4 Macs, both at work and home. Wondering if AccuWeather is having an issue.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Good to hear, thanks for the report! 🙂
Yea, some of the other widgets work - but they don't look as nice and clean. 😟
.
Yeah mine hasn't been working for a few days either. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Weather 10.4 has a parser.js file that contains the URL of the weather data servers
Weather 10.5 sees to go to http://www.apple.com/widgets/weatherParser.js
for the parser and therein are the URL pointers
Just for the record... OS X 10.7.2 here, all Apple widgets work fine and there were no interruptions, so it might not be the widgets themselves.
Yes, 10.7 works fine. 10.7 has different widgest than the previous versions.
I'm also having another issue that may be related to the non-functioning weather widget. Whenever I click on Dashboard on my G5/Leopard at work, a browser window (I use Safari) also opens with a blank page and a strange url. As I am at home right now on my MacBook/Snow Leopard with a fully functioning weather widget and no surprise browser launches, I cannot get the name of the url. Just a coincidence or related?
The 10.6 widget also works fine
Regarding the WeatherUnderground widget - for me, that one is mysteriously and consistently reporting a temperature that's at least 25 degrees colder than the actual temperature, so that sort of defeats the purpose.
Looking at that, it appears that one line has been commented out:
//var url = 'http://apple.accuweather.com/adcbin/apple/Apple_Weather_Data.asp?zipcode=';
And replaced with another line:
var url = 'http://wu.apple.com/adcbin/apple/Apple_Weather_Data.asp?zipcode=';
I don't see a way of telling how recently that change was made, but it could be the source of the problem, no?
I just noticed this myself! It'd not a big deal for me since I never really relied on the weather widget, but I noticed it was blank earlier today and was wondering why this is so. A quick Google search, and here I am. I've not downloaded any updates within the last few days that I could see causing such a thing. For the record, I'm runing OSX 10.5.8.
That seems to be the same in both, but the new one seems have this added at the end...
return {fetchWeatherData:fetchWeatherData, validateWeatherLocation:validateWeatherLocation, createGoToURL:createGoToURL};
Getting the same blank widget on my (intel) MacBook w/ Mac OS X 10.5.8....
Real annoying, but not the end of the world. Where is Apple on this? - FIX IT!
I think Apple view this as a service, and that out subscription is now up...
