Retina Macbook Pro WiFi and Bluetooth issue

Hey all,

i'd be really thankful for some info on the following issue :

i've got a Retina Macbook Pro and a Bluetooth Sound System from Logitech. The System connects to Macbook via Bluetooth which always works fine. Connecting to internet via WiFi works fine as well. The problem occurs when i use both WiFi and Bluetooth simultaneously : there seems to be some kind of interference, which makes my internet either go down completely or become very slow. This issue is not that nasty, but I'd expect a $2300 machine to work perfectly. So my question is : is this problem known for all of new Retina Macbooks or is it just my unit? In case it's just my unit, i'd still have a chance of exchanging it for a new one. But i'd like to know for sure where this problems comes from. I'd also be very thankful for every other solution you can think of.

Here is an interesting bit to add to the problem. Four weeks ago I bought a MBA 11" 2012 and discovered the problem with the WIFI and the Bluetooth so I returned it. Meanwhile I started using a MBP Retina that I absolutely love and it has the same problem.

I guess it's a problem with MacOS 10.8.x or with the new Bluetooth 4.0 spec.

This is very annoying because I have to choose between using a USB mouse or using a Ethernet dongle to connect to the network.

I've got the same problem. Tried various things, but nothing helped. 5GHZ network is not an option in my case, so I've to wait + see if apple fixes the hardware :|

jus encountered the same problem last nite from Singapore. Glad that i found this thread. Cant believe Apple still has't fixed this issue.

It look like the 10.8.2 and/or the EFI update to my MBP Retina fixed the problem. At least on one of the sites I work at. My MBP connects to channel 1 (2.4GHz) and the speed is a lot better.

But now I found out that I have a LG LCD with screen burn in. 😠 Love this computer but hate all the problems it comes with.

I Installed 10.8.2 but the Problem is not fixed for me. I've got this problem only when my Apple Magic Mouse is connected to the Bluetooth. My Bluetooth Apple Keyboard an Magic Trackpad work both fine without any WiFi Issues...

I hope this will be fixed very soon...

Looks like 10.8.2 has fixed for me too. Just did a conference call using my BT headset plus online at same time over VoIP...

8.2 temporarily fixed it for me as well, but I'll be interested to see how this holds over the next few days. Just like a SMC reset, the problem was fixed temporarily with 8.2/EFI update, but it returned after about 12 hours and now bluetooth is back to regularly stalling my wif connection.

For those who said 10.8.2 fixed the problem, let us know if it is still resolved after 2-3 days.

10.8.2 + EFI seem to fix the problem for me too. My Logitech Speakers don't cause WiFi speed to drop anymore. Neither does my Bluetooth mouse. This was quite a surprise, since i would've expected this fix to be mentioned in the change log. Whatever. Hopefully it's a permanent fix 🙂

jus updated 10.8.2 + EFI and the update did NOT fix the problem of wifi and bluetooth (Magic Mouse).

As soon as I turn on my bluetooth to use the Magic Mouse, the wifi stop responding.

very disappointed. Pls fix it asap, Apple !!!!

just updated to 10.8.2 as well...did not fix the issue...to be honest I even believe it has gone worse :-s

side note : I connected to Wifi channel 11 - 2.462GHz

Wifi doesn't work anymore when coonected Magic Mouse via Bluetooth. Any apple guru has any idea? 😟

Guys, you cannot get improvement with an update since this is a hardware related problem. However, depending on my exact location in the house the problem varies.

Try different Wifi channels. A Wifi channel represents a slightly different frequency for the signal. One will work better than the other.
