iPhone 5 wifi issues

Im joining the band wagon to say i have exactly the same problem !!

I cant connect to my wifi at home or at work both of which is WPA2 protected so im guessing we all know thats the problem.

Just to go into a bit more detail - All my previous devices (ipad3, iphone4s both on 5.1.1 FW) can connect fine no issues what so ever and can get network wherever in house upstairs, downstairs, garden etc

Now my iphone 5 running 6.0 ..... it wont connect to the network unless im standing right next to the router, as soon as i step away it disconnects and goes back to 3g. i also tried this at work thinking it was jsut my home router and the same thing hapened !

Ive restored my iphone 5 twice now and i still have the same problem.

Im pretty dissapointed Apple has let this happen and i hope its just a software problem to which they fix soon !!! As im currently eating up my very poor 1GB data limit (trust me i went to town on o2 because obviously tmobile and orange and three uk give unlimited data) in the end they reduced my tarrif to £10 a month instead of £36 so im happy enough lol

APPLE IF YOU SEE THIS PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE AND TELL US WHEN A FIX IS COMING !!

I will share with you for FREE what I paid $40 smackaroonies for!! I contacted NETGEAR for help with my WIFI ROUTER, problem solved!! It was the simplest grade school technique I ever seen! Biggest problem was understanding the guy over the phone, they are in INDIA!! Ready to fix this?????? Here we go: In your ROUTER settings, change the login/access ID Name used for devices to find the router... EXAMPLE: Instead of "Wingstat7" change to "Wingstat07" and then FIND the WIFI on all your devices. You can use the same password if you want. My guess is that factory settings in most routers are predetermined to block or deny certain devices after a certain amount of time and or when NEW devices are added. They wanted a 6 month service contract and to monitor my system for me... from INDIA!! DECLINED!! Hope this helps ;-)

I am ran into the same issue with my two new iphone 5...I am not able to connect to my home network which was wireless G network..But, I was able to connect to my business network withch is wireless N router...

So, i have changed my home router to wireless N and guess what...It worked...My guess is that IOS 6 may not ble compatble for g or b networks

try changing/ugrading the router to wirelss N...seee...good luck guys

Just got my 64-GB White iPhone 5 (Verizon) yesterday. I have also been experiencing sporadic Wi-Fi issue on the phone. I had been testing iOS 6 betas on my iPhone 4 and also currently have the gold master release of iOS 6 installed and i did not see that issue happening on the iPhone 4. When i was experiencing the Wi-Fi connectivity issue, as soon as i turned Wi-Fi off, the data connectivity resumed.

I previously reported that changing to WEP fixed it, but I decided to try setting up a static IP address for my phone using its Wifi MAC address. I switched back to WPA2 and now it works flawlessly and I'm getting 12-14 Mbps down.

Okay so I have had this issue since purchase yesterday morning and have spoke to apple tech support senior level and last night he sent it to engineers and I was told 4 -5 hours yet he has called me back today with no info from Engineers but looked for other reported issues of this and there is non with apply (he says), Also I can confirm it is related to Encrypted wifi, because wifi works fine on open wifi networks, but I think we are all looking at this very wrong I have tried every fix listed here and none work for me including factory resets. My wifes is working 100% fine on our home encrypted network also. I think most of us are looking at adjusting our router setting but that will only let it work in your house not any form of travel as the problem resides in the phone either softwaer or hardware. I hope it is not hardware because I cannot even exchange it every store around me is sold out and is waiting for more.

I think we're really looking at, at least, two different issues here. If you are getting the "spinning wheel" you probably did not enter the wirless encryption key properly. That would not be Apple's problem.

i'm more concerned with the problem where people are connecting but getting disconnected (or cannot pass traffic) after a short period of tome. Yes perhaps it is a hardware problem, but I believe there may be a problem with the way the iPhone 5 (and perhaps) iOs 6 responds to key regeneration on Wifi. For those of you using WPA or WPA2 encryption, which algorithm are you using? The two possibilities are TKIP and AES. Anyone using 802.11n is probably using AES and I think that's where the problem lies. Older routers (802.11g). Usually default to TKIP.

I can confirm that switching to WEP solved the problem for my iPhone5 but couldn't further test it because my client had to leave.

I don't know if this may or may not be related to the issue, but I noticed on my d-link 655 wireless router that the iPhone 5 is connected in wireless-g mode. My old iPhone 4, iPad and MacBook air connect via wireless-n. my router is setup to wirless-n only so I don't know how it's doing that.

I also have issues with the sporadic connection, slow speeds and lack of range - usually signal reaches to my room from the living room with all other products except for iPhone 5.

Made an appointment with the store tomorrow, but not sure if a replacement might fix it or not. I haven't tried turning off any wireless security yet, but changing to WEP didn't fix any issues for me.

I've been having this problem, and so I've been running some tests with my router. All my other devices, no matter where they are in my apartment, connect with a signal strength of 70-100%. My iPhone 5 only works within about 10 feet of the router. Between 10 feet and 1 foot of the router, signal strength fluctuates between 15% and 40%, occasionally hitting 50% to 60% for a second or two. Rate (as the router reports it) is between 1mbps and 11mbps, while all other devices are in the 58-81mbps range.

I've tried changing my router to N-only and to G-only, no change. I've tried a bunch of other options on the router, no change. On the iPhone, I disabled Bluetooth, cellular data, and everything else I can think of, no change.

All I can think of at this time is that it's probably a batch of bad wireless radios, and we're the unlucky ones who got them. If it was a driver issue, everyone would likely have the problem.

Here's my progress so far. After taking well over a day and all my apps still werent restored from icloud i canceled the remaining ones. Booted up app store and tried manually downloading just stuck on waiting. Turned wifi off. Works flawlessly and seems faster.

Turned wifi back on, assigned static ip and turned on find new networks or w/e the very bottom setting is named. Cycled Power off then on. Worked for two apps and seemed slower still than cell network then stopped and loading seemed to take forever. Turned wifi off and works super fast again.

Funny though for me it only seems to be an issue with the app store on wifi, browsing the web works just fine and is faster than it was on my iphone 4.

Items tested. Iphone 5, Netgear WNDR3700 router (tested both g and n bands).

Feels like its a bug possibly from restoring from a backup from icloud from my iphone 4, of course i could be wrong and the wifi antenna just *****.

I can't understand why we should change any router settings etc afterall my iPad and iPhone 3GS has no problems but

changing your security setting on your wifi to either WPA Personal (not 2) and/or WEP will probably resolve the issue. I think this is a software issue that iwll be resolved with an update soon. that is if Apple is listening...

Have two new iphone 5's - one worked perfectly, the other no wi-fi. Wifi would connect for possibly 10 seconds, then not transmit any data. Took it to Apple Store this morning (worked just fine on the store network), swapped it out, and now everything works fine. Before the swap, tried most of the things mentioned here with adjusting router in various ways (Belkin router, WPA2) but nothing worked. So far both iphones working fine with original configuration of router.
