iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

Do you think these 'Network changed' logs are related to the problem?

you know..saying things like "Biggest problem was understanding the guy over the phone, they are in INDIA!".. is not only racist but stupidly unneccesary....considering 1. he speaks 2 languages. 2. they are used to british accents so you are probably the one hard to understand 3. the guy not only solved your problem .. but as you said "It was the simplest grade school technique I ever seen!" I bet you are a republican.

Next time you have a problem...don't call the Indians to help you.. just buy a new phone... because obviously Smart phones aren't for you.

Strong Indian accents are hard for me to understand over the phone as well. Lets stay on topic.

My wife and I are having wifi issues as well. iPhone 5, White 32 gig, and Black 64 gig. Both are able to have a semi

stable, if slow, connection to the 2.4 ghz band but will not hold a connection on the 5 ghz band at all. Every minute or

so the phone reverts back to LTE, then after a short time will go back to wifi.

We are working on some network tests right now, but this is obviously a iPhone 5 problem as both iPad 3s are using the

5g band flawlessly.

Just wanted to add to the post count so that hopefully apple takes notice.

If I find anything that works I will post, but to be honest, I'm not too hot on the idea of mickey-mousing my network

when this is obviously on Apple's side.

I just got off the phone with apple after about 3 hours today. the thing that i found for my situation is that any download that is initiated with wifi can end with LTE. my problem was downloading music from itunes match. i started downloading a bunch of albums with wifi, and when i went out of range, instead of stopping the downloads (even though cellular data was turned off), it continued with LTE for a bunch of albums and blew through a bunch of data - more than my plan allowed for. call apple and let them know you're not happy about it, and im sure they'll get everything squared away (fairly) quickly.

Well, went to the Apple store and they swapped out my handset for a new one...works on wifi beautifully!

Sees all the access points in the neighborhood, my first handset wouldn't see my own router unless I was in the same room.

This confirms to me there was a hardware issue...maybe a bad wifi radio?

I'm happy. I'm also curious to see how apple handles the growing number of upset customers.

Good luck all!

But WE are the customer, so, "CUSTOMER" support should fluently speak the language of the CUSTOMER. There you are, defending every forgiener you come across as if they need defending. I bet you are a Democrat. I bet you believe in global warming and global economies and wind power and outsourcing our jobs as a good thing. I just nearly lost my job as an American call center employee because T-Mobile decided to pull out because it's cheaper to pay $1/hr (yes $1/hr), to Phlipinos to read from scripts they won't stop reading from because they hardly speak English. The fact that this guy managed to fix the issue was A) only a partial fix, because I can't run around asking McDonalds and Starbucks to rename their router for me, and B) blind luck. Most likely, it was off of a script they guy was reading from.

I got lucky because my employer managed to land a new client 4 days before I was out of a job.

When I purchased my iPhone 4, the camera flash didn't work out of the box, I made the appointment and went to the store, and they did swap it out with a new phone, but, it was from the back of the store in an OEM box without accessories like charger, earbuds, etc. I was told all exchanges are done with new phones, and that my phone would be refurbished, and sold as refurbished even though it was less than 1 week old when I exchanged it.

funny as after waited 12 hours and being second in line at Apple store i traded my black 16gb 4s for a shiny new white 32gb.

we are on ATT here in Ct.

no wifi issues at all but terrible standard 3g/4g/LTE....it was always slow going back to 3gs at our condo but this iPhone 5 is non existent EXCEPT for the wifi which works.

very wierd and hoping a software issues works its way out as i am a windows guy and other then iTunes and iPhone I am lost with Apple. Now my wife and girls left our family plan and went to Verizon and they get service all over house fine. So it has to be ATT correct?

and adding to post count also so you all with wifi issues get apple to lok at it and quickly too.

Good Luck to ALL

Just to add my own experience here to the many others. My iPhone 5 crawled along on my home wifi (I have the latest Time Capsule). I was getting 0.2 Mbps average speed with 10 attempts using Speed Test app. After switching off WPA2 Personal security I got 37 Mbps averages speed with 10 attempts! I am in Japan and have a fast internet connection.

I reckon this is a software issue related to using Wifi with secuity settings in place. Let`s hope for 6.01 soon to address this issue.
