iPhone 5 wifi issues
My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

I'm also having this problem. Wifi has slowed to a crawl even though my iPhone 5 shows full wifi signal strength. I tried playing around with the network settings as some have suggested in the thread, but nothing seemed to make a difference. Turning the phone off and then on again seems to have fixed the problem for the moment, however.
I was having the same problem and tried everything. I went out and bought a new belkin router and now it works perfectly! I think my netgear WTG624 router was just too old and wasn't compatible with the iphone5! Yay problem solved!
Ive been at the Mac store for 90 minutes. They swapped my V.64 for a new one. Still wont connect to internet using secured wifi. Unsecured wifi worked on both phones. They even opened a new airport. Connects to it, but no internet. Im still here. 😟
I have a genius bar appointment for tomorrow to take in two iPhone 5's for this. However, I happened to be at the mall this evening to see a movie so I stopped in and talked to the genius bar coordinator. They said that they have not heard of this issue. I said, "really? There are several on-going threads on this with pages of people posting that they have the same problem." The store representative said they have not heard anything from apple corporate, etc.
I was thinking about how I was going to test the new phones in the store tomorrow. I may bring in an extra access point.
I fixed this issue completely by adjusting my WiFi security settings. I had WPA2 (with AES encryption). I switched it to WPA2 (TKIP + AES), and it has been flawless ever since. Seems like the iPhone has trouble with the AES.
neither of my iphone 5's will connect to my network.
i also have the netgear wgt624 router - i think i might need to upgrade, as this is quite old... it has worked great, and still works with all my other devices : /
They are gonna swap me for a third! They are going to try and swap sims right now. I think I may sleep here. Supposedly there is a "genius" guy here who has a I5 that will use secured wifi, although I have not seen this for myself. Switching off aes isnt a fix, thats just a bandaid. They played like they never heard of it either...
Llmao at John Laury....why Republicans are always angry? .. I see you have been drinking from the Fearmongering Tea republitards love....you want to talk about outsourcing? Romney’s Bain Capital, invested in a series of firms that specialized in relocating jobs done by American workers to new facilities in low-wage countries like China and India. This is how he got a huge part of his money, which .. instead of keeping in American banks , paying taxes that help our economy , he keeps it overseas..virtually tax free....Romney and Bain invested heavily in a Chinese manufacturing company that depended on US outsourcing for its profits—and that explicitly stated that such outsourcing was crucial to its success. ever heard of Global tech?
Ever hear of Stericycle? for those that oppose abortion and yell "christian nation" . In 1999 Romney had been part of an investment group that invested $75 million in Stericycle, a medical-waste disposal firm that has been attacked by anti-abortion groups for disposing aborted fetuses collected from family planning clinics and animal fetuses.
Have fun with that one.
On the other hand Obama said that companies who preserve jobs in the US will get a bigger tax break but those outsourcing jobs will have to pay more. Two years ago he said his goal was of doubling US exports over five years. With an agreement he signed into law, we are on track to meet that goal ahead of schedule....
The truth is, if the iphone was "Made in USA" ... you wouldn't be able to afford it... but Romney can.. he made lots of $ outsourcing.

iOS 6 causes iPad 2 issues and the iPhone 5 wifi is way to weak.
iOS 6 on 3GS iPhone the wifi works fine
iPad 2 with iOS 6 gets it's wifi trashed, - constantly drops its connection and when it is connected it is slow
iPhone 5 has very weak wifi. It has nothing to do with their web site testing url. It has zero range. 2 laptops, 1 MacBook, and 2 3GS phones are fine in our living room. iPhone 5's and iPad 2 lose their connections. Stand right next to the router and they are fine. THIS IS NOT GOOD!!!
Ok, so the "lead genius" at Bellevue, WA, Apple store confirmed its an issue across the board. An addmission!
They have no fix. I can swap as many times as I want. "Its under warranty."
Advice, bring your own hotspot when you go to get your lifetime of swaps. lol
Did he say it was a hardware issue or a software issue?
This WPA wifi thing reminds me of a bug that one of the final betas of iOS 5 had just before release. The wifi would seize up almost exactly as it is now.
Guys I can confirm that the problem was 100% with WPA2 (AES) algorithm if you switch to WPA2 (AES +TKIP) it will fix the problem. I'm now getting 40 MB down and 40 MB up and it's faster than my iPad 3. Thanks again for all who helped us.
I had major problems connecting the IP5 to my WIFI, it just kept saying "unable to connect ..) . My old IP4 connected fine so did my iPad as did every other wireless device. I tried all the suggested fixes I've read online and had no luck at all. Spent over 30 minutes on the phone with Vodafone and tried everything she suggested with no luck, she finally gave up and suggested I call Apple support which was no good as they don't work on Sundays. So out of frustration I reset my modem and started from scratch. Now I have connection, a good signal and speed. Beats me why every other device connected fine before I reset but I don't really care now, I finally have WIFI on the IP5 and for me the problem is resolved. I wish you all good luck with your own battles, I hope you win!!
Multiple users have confirmed that this fixes the WiFi issue:
Yeah..if you are comfortable adjusting your router settings you should really go adjust your security settings to allow for TKIP as well as AES. This will not decrease your level of security..just make sure you are still using WPA2 with a strong password and you will be fine.
In short, you want this:
WPA2 (AES + TKIP)
It simply means that your router will accept devices using either AES OR TKIP protocol (whichever the device supports). It seems the iPhone is picky when it comes to AES.
Here is an article aboue the two:

I just got back from having my iPhone swapped out for another new one at the Apple store. It works now. No WiFi issues and I haven't done anything different. Hopefully they can release a patch for those that are affected.
