iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

I had great difficulty connecting to my WIFI with the new iPhone 5 and like many I tried every suggested solution with no success. My old iPhone4S had no problems with WIFI nor did my iPad 2 but even though the new iPhone 5 detected my WIFI it refused to connect. I ended up resetting my modem, creating new wireless passwords and finally the iPhone connected. Signal strength has been good, speeds are fine and it automatically reconnected when I got back home after going out for a short while.

Now it could well be an issue if I try to connect onto a friends or family members network, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it came up as "unable to connect" so while the modem reset worked for me at home I'm not sure if it will connect elsewhere and obviously I can't expect that others reset their modems to suit me.

Obviously this is a big issue and the fact that WIFI connection is not an insignificant issue I just wonder how it is that Apple didn't recognise this bug before they released the iPhone 5. I just wonder if Apple are more interested in getting the cash rolling in than they are with quality control. Its not just the WIFI mess, the Maps are a joke.

Apple needs to get its act together and lift their game. Find a fix to the problems and release an update and don't wait until hundreds complain. Better still don't release the product until its working properly.

Top left is showing cellular icon while wifi is turned on and connected. iPhone 5 unresponsive to others wifi (WPA settings), works at home okay with my WEP setting. Connecting to my cousin wifi(Tried changing to WEP, WPA, open, and WPA2) was unsuccessful even though password was entered in correctly. So it got to be firmware related not hardware? It won't matter if I get return and get a new one?

I wonder if anyone who has updated ios6

On other models is having problems?

I have other models but haven't updated to

Ios6 on them and no issues!!

I had issues with iphone 5 which has ios6 but after

Setting up with 3G option and as a NEW PHONE

it's behaving better , now and again switches

To 3G mode but wifi is better !

But if I see a total wifi loss for a long

While again I will ask for a refund

As you have 14 days from purchase to

Return etc but if they give a new one

It will still have same issues surely?

I started looking in to this as it took 24hrs to restore my iPhone 5 apps from iCloud. I've tried with fours routers, and experienced the same packet loss issues - for example speedtest gets 6mbps down (full speed for my line) but then can't even test upstream.

Finally I've connected to an old zyxel G router, which works perfectly... It's highly likely this is an encryption AES v TKIP problem, so off to play with settings some more...

It's just a question of hardware or software - return it to store or wait for fix!
