iphone 5 power button NOT Working anymore.

Alright, Apple store guys finally took my phone and gave me a loaner iphone 5. They will fix it at no charge and I'll just need to wait for a week.

I just got home from the Apple Store and they took us through the process for our two iPhone 5 devices with the Sleep Button issue. We have two loaner iPhones and they will email and/or call when our iPhones are ready for pickup. The Restore worked flawlessly on the loaner iPhones. This is definitely a good decision on Apple's part. We had just been to their store three days ago and they couldn't do anything for us, other than sell us a replacement rebuilt iPhone 5 at an expensive flat fee and with no warrantee.

They also do the same for me.

Swapped out my iphone 5 for a loaner today. Several people were also there doing the same thing.

Hi guys. I called Apple a few hours ago and I'm doing the mail in because the only Apple Store is over 2 hours away. Anyways, I just remembered that I'm going away next weekend and I'll need my phone. I should be getting the box either this Monday or Tuesday. Is it okay to send it later or should I cancel and rearrange?

I doubt you will have a problem using the box to ship it in when you return from your trip.

Note: Apple will not pay for a 3rd party repair. At a non- apple store.

I was planning on fixing my iphone 5 Audio Control and Power Button flex cable myself, and bought one from iFixit.

Since i no longer need it, it's up for sale on ebay (search for it) for those do-it-yourselfers out there...

Nice. So those of us whose sleep/wake button stopped functioning altogether, and who paid for a third-party repair because we didn't feel like paying $200 to swap out a phone that went faulty after a little over a year, are screwed. I guess when my next iPhone goes bad prematurely, I should swap it out with AppleCare and pray that they do the right thing and refund my money eventually. Or even better: not buy a "next iPhone" at all, which is frankly the way I'm leaning right now.

At least I read it here before I paid $19 to have a "genius" tell me I couldn't get my money back.

Call AppleCare, tell them it is about the power button replacement program and ask to be transferred to Customer Service. If you aren't happy at the first level keep going until you can come to a reasonable accomodation.
