I took in my wife's iPhone 5, which had the wake button problem, to get it replaced. The Genius neglected to tell me that the loaner phones only come with 16GB, so when I got it home to restore from my iTunes backup, iTunes refused since my wife's phone has 32GB. So I drove the 15 miles back to the Apple Store and complained. They said they don't have 32GB loaners, and suggested I don't restore from iTunes but instead selectively load Contacts etc. This of course won't work due to the resulting data inconsistencies once I restore my full backup to my fixed phone when it comes back from the factory because the changes in the interim won't be reflected on the full backup waiting patiently on my iMac. The only solution (which I came up with; they were stumped) appears to be to buy a new iPhone 5S for $750 and use it until my fixed phone returns, then return the purchased phone for a refund. Ugh.

I received a phone call from an employee at the apple store. I did not get an e-mail message. You may want to call the store for a status. Maybe you missed a call from them? You don't need a genius appointment for the pickup. The drop off and loaner phone took a long time, but the pickup and loaner return only took five minutes. Good luck

Hello, I live in Qatar State, and I have the same problem in my iphone 5 sleep/wake button. I just read about the replacement program, However, No apple reseller or network provider provide such services. no one assissted me regarding this program. so, I checked apple website for more solutions, but i find my self that I have to pay 20 dollars to get help from the support service. Seriously???

Apple, I wish a help from you, however, if you can not, then better not selling your products internationally if you can not support your customers. still, I wish apple can do something in this matter. I am waiting. thanks.

jawdatmk, Unfortunatly this Community while supported by Apple is Not Apple. Folks here can typically help provide some thoughts if not solutions. Apple Support, like Microsoft Support and many others have Support Policies that make it clear up-front that there will be charges for those issues that arise on out-of-warrantee devices. Consequently even when we have an issue that these companies will pay for Users get greeted with the Support Charge policy.

I think you will soon learn of an Apple Program that will help fix your iPhone at no charge.

I just picked up my repaired iPhone 5 tonight at the Apple store. Everything seems to be working fine now. The switch works like new and there doesn't seem to be any damage or anything out of place. I asked the store person if they relplaced the battery as you had mentioned. She said she didn't know for sure but that it was her understanding that because of the design of the battery it could be damaged when opening the phone and would likely have to be replaced.

Just to update folks on the Power Button repair cycle-time experience, our two iPhone 5 devices were taken to an Apple Store on Saturday, April 26th and we got the notice to pick the iPhones up on Monday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 6th respectively. So for these first repair batches it took just under what the Apple Genius Bar representative had stated. We will drive the 45 miles or so on Thursday to actually give back the loaner iPhones and pick our's back up.
