iphone 5 power button NOT Working anymore.

The power button of my Iphone 5 is not working properly. What i mean by that is i have to push the power button REALLY REALLY hard to get it to work. I am worndering can i take it to Apple and have them replace it for me? I had have my Iphone 5 for a little more then a year and my warrenty is out of date. Anyone kno if i can still get a replacement? Bought the iphone5 couple of months after it came out, full price out the door and using it for T-mobile

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

I have the same problem but here in the UK apple will replace the iphone 5 for 2 years under EU law...... BUT if you got it on contract with a mobile provider as MOST people do they will only honour the 1 year warranty.

So its like saying "yeah we acknowledge there is a problem but even though it is one of our product and we would replace it for you if you bought it from the apple store, but UNLUCKY you got it on a 2 year contract and they only last 13 months!!!!"


Come on Apple its time to admit the iphone 5 needs a recall....

Exact same problem here as well.

My iPhone 5's sleep button started being pretty much unusable for no apparent reason.

If I push hard on the left side it works, but pushing with normal pressure or on the right side never works.

I'm out of warranty too 😟.

Seeing as everyone is having the exact same problem, always with the right side failing, this seems to be a design issue that I hope Apple will address.

Same thing here. I'm sad about the fact that there is so many of us. I talked to a lot of my friends, who owns iphone 5 and many of them had this problem too.

Mine stopped working this summer. I couldn't take it to the apple store, because I bought the phone in us, but using it in Russia, and in my region there is no official apple retail stores.

2 problems I con point out here:

1) and obvious - power button issue.

2) no recall


and nobody from technicians haven't said anything about it in this topic. It makes me think that they really don't care about their customers.

I own few apple products. But I wish I could upgrade them when the time comes on new ones. But it could turn out as a big question for me at that time - should I trust apple? Honestly, I really don't like that issue. And android market is getting a lot better now. May be it's time to go after google nexus?

@kenchi123: Re-read the Terms of Use that you agreed to when you joined here. This is a technical support forum staffed by users like yourself, not a free for all discussion site. Try MacRumours, Engadget, appleinsider, etc. for voicing your opinion.

Honestly, it's just amusing that despite all the interest in this thread, the Apple Geniuses will act like they've never seen this issue before. Three people were at my Apple Genius Bar table when I took my phone in; all of us had the same problem, yet each of us was made to feel as though this could not be a systemic issue related to the iphone 5. Silly really.
