wow, i don't have as many products as you, but i have enough between phones, ipads, macbook, tv, movies/music, etc... and in my years to come, i planned on buying all apple as i do love their products. but now, really, not sure.

what if apple decides to come out with logic pro 11 tomorrow... should we all just have to buck up and spend another $200? why not make a new version every few weeks then? i know that is an extreme example, but i'm sure you get my point.

its really crazy to me they would let this happen and not resolve more fairly.

Apple are idiot bags. I bought L9 on July 15th and was billed on July 16th the date LPX was released. I e-mail the store and they gave me the following response:

I apologize, but the iTunes Store does not provide assistance by telephone. My name is Sarah. I am the Senior Advisor who has taken over your case as you requested the case be escalated.

I understand that you are upset that we are unable to provide a refund for Logic Pro 9. I do apologize for any inconvenience, but this decision is final and cannot be appealed any further. I want to re-assure you that the policy terms were thoroughly reviewed. In result, after reviewing Apple's Standard Operating Procedures, Sales Policy, the policy guidelines, and trying to find an alternative to your inquiry, unfortunately, the iTunes Store Customer Support Team cannot reverse charges for the purchases. This policy matches Apple's refund policies.

You can review the iTunes store terms of Sale for more information:

http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html

I encourage you to use the iTunes Feedback page to submit your comments on this issue:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

The iTunes Store now considers this case closed. Any additional emails from you regarding this issue will not receive a response from iTunes Store Customer Support.

Thank you for understanding.

Sincerely,

Sarah

I then called my Visa dispute resolution department and they were kind enough to give me a refund although they could not interfere with the transaction.. I guess some companies understand customer service and others just don't get it... But I will buy LPX anyway! :-0

I don't want a refund, I want my new Logic Pro software to be up to date.

Like many others before I purchased, I seached for information on pending releases for Logic Pro and there was no information.

At the time I purchased Apple had to have known that Logic Pro X was being released very soon.

I choose Logic Pro over Pro Tools because I trusted Apple to treat me fairly if a new version of Logic Pro was to come out say within 90 days of my purchase. From my understanding Pro Tools provided a no/low cost upgrade for those customers that purchased close to the recent release of their new version.

What my take away from this situation :

  • Apple Inc. does not value there DAW customer base enought to provide resonable upgrade paths to recent purchasers.
  • To keep my new Logic Pro software up to date, I have to buy it twice at full price.
  • I should have choosen Pro Tools, it would have cost me about the same as buying Logic Pro twice and I would be on the industry standard DAW.
  • Cost of not provideing discounted or free upgrades to recent purchasers of Logic Pro 9 has caused alot of bad will with customers and will cost Apple much more then allowing me to up date my new software.

At this time, am undecided if I am leaving Logic Pro to go to Pro Tools.

Apple Inc. Please treat your DAW customers resonably.

Please add me to the list for "nor refund possible" too.

bought on 27th july..

go to holiday 4 days later

and when i came back to try the software the "first time"

i can see that there was a new release in the meantime..

called several times and had an odysee of support

and wrong numbers and so on..

which end up in itunes support with a standard answer..

very arrogant.. not a single word of understanding

nothing..

i am thinking to either

bring this to court or

sell the software..

stupid apple business,,

interessting fact

that when i am in logic pro 9 and press help / logic pro support

i am ending up on a webpage with logic pro x

http://www.apple.com/de/support/logicpro/

the same happens if i press help / logic pro in internet

i am ending up on the webpage with logic pro x

http://www.apple.com/de/logic-pro/

this clearly indicates that logic pro x is not a stand alone new functionality version of logic pro 9

but maybe just a fix.. with some minor functional enhancements..

i guess this needs to be checked by a court to see if this is acceptable to cut any fix releases

and sell the software another time.

kewahh,

Note: There is nothing you can 'bring to court'.. You agreed to the terms and conditions when you bought an App from the App Store. Nothing is wrong with the item you bought. Logic Pro X isn't an upgrade. Its a new application. You bought Logic Pro 9. That App still works perfectly well and will do so for some time.

...and you cant sell anything because you didn't buy anything.

Apps from the App store are licenced to you.. and as such you cannot resell them..

Just wanted to make you aware so you don't waste your time and effort.

Do I think you should get a refund? Yes.. as I do for anyone who bought Logic Pro 9 within 30 days of Logic Pro X being released. I believe that would only be fair for Apple to do so.. and they did so for a number of people until apparently, an internal decision was made to stop such refunds and uphold the policy as per the Apple Mac App Store Agreement.. that you agreed to when you bought Logic Pro 9

So, are you legally entitled to a refund however? No... You are not. Morally maybe.. Legally, no

By the way: Your dates don't make any sense given that Logic Pro X was released worldwide on July 16th.. so if you bought yours on July 27th Logic Pro X was already out.

I JUST, 9 July 13, bought Logic Pro... Any change Apple will allow for some type of upgrade to Pro X, since we had NO Fore Knowledge of its release...
