It definitely does and not just with Mavericks. AFAIK it's associated with hibernation, which only portables do.

I have the file on my 2013 iMac, but I haven’t tried deleting it because I have had no sleep/wake failures in a few weeks now. If it starts happening again I’ll try that next.

I've read up on the file for the iMac. It has no value on that machine. For those who have it, it seems to have been created when the iMac is setup by migrating data/files from a macbook.

Since I posted the original recommendation, I have had the sleep/wake problem. It happens less and when I delete the file, it works for a while before resurfacing. It's still unclear what is going on.

My new Mac Pro suffer from "Sleep Wake Crash" ....

I tried everything from this forum, but the only working solution is to prevent the mac entering into sleep mode...

I was wondering if new 10.9.4 OS will solve the problem ...but definitively not. Should I send to Apple the bill for the excess of power consumption ?

I haven't had any sleep/wake crashes since 10.9.4 came out, which has been two weeks now, on my MBPWRD. It was a daily occurrence before, and has seemingly been fixed now.

Try to update to 10.9.4 because i updated that to my macbook air and it solved the sleep problem and that does not help try checking your display sleep settings

I just read through this entire thread looking for something that I have not tried yet. It seem like there are a lot of very similar problems which may or may not have the same root cause but this was my problem: I've got a mid 2009 15" MBP and I've been on Mavericks since it came out with no problems until about 2 months ago when my MBP would no longer come back from sleep. It didn't matter how long I set the sleep timeout 5 minutes or 5 hours. It didn't matter if it was on battery or power. It didn't matter if it times out, or if I closed the lid, or if I pushed the power button. If the laptop went to sleep, when you tried to wake it the screen would come on and the keyboard would light up but the screen was frozen and only a hard reset would restore things. I even tried wiping the hard drive and restoring from Time Machine. It worked for a few days but then I was right back where I was before. When I got to page 17 of this thread I saw something that made me think. The user Shaun7777 had AirParrot installed which I had also. I had not used it in ages but had used it around the time when I started having the problem. I went to the AirParrot website and followed the instruction to fully remove the software and the drives and my MBP will sleep properly now. I know that not everyone who has this problem is running AirParrot but my guess is that there are other software programs that employ drivers in the same way that AirParrot does and which does not seem to be compatible with Mavericks. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, I hope that helps someone. I'm also posting this to the other big thread my late 2013 13 inch MBP retina will not wake from sleep

Apple replaced the logic board. It seems to be working.

My 2013 27" iMac running 10.9.4 starting the sleep/crash thing a couple of weeks ago.

The problem is solved, in a way, by "preventing the computer from sleeping..when the display is off" in sysprefs>energy saver.

My Macbook Pro 17in late 2011 with SSD suffers from "Sleep Wake Crash". Here is my power management setup, any clues on changing setup which may fix "Sleep Wake Crash". I have tried most other suggestions in discussion - to no avail.

I am having this problem on my Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013). It crashed 4 times during normal use yesterday alone. Most were failure to wake from sleep.

Earlier in the week I rebooted in restore mode and running disk utility with fixing all disks and permissions on the drive and the partition. I did the same logged into my user account but that obviously did not solve the problems. Ended up calling Apple and they had me perform the Shift-Ctrl-Option-Command reboot, followed by Pram (command-option-P-R?) reboot, followed by booting in safe mode. I don't know if that did anything but using websites under safe mode was very debilitating.

I found this discussion: Mavericks Crashing on New MBP... and found to download Etresoft: EtreCheck . After rebooting in regular mode EtreCheck reported genatsdb 67% of CPU. Web search on that lead me to http://blog.lo-fi.net/2009/10/upgrade-to-snow-leopard-freezes-at-boot.html where I decided to try "sudo atsutil databases -remove". So far so good. Several lid closures and no reboot or hang. It is still too early to tell if this resolved anything long term though. I will report back.

Reset the SMC 2 days ago. Hasn't crashed since.

This just happened to me this morning when I tried to prevent my Mac Book air from sleeping and was too late. Now it won't boot past the apple logo, I was able to get into the disk utilities where it notified me of an error with Mavericks. I've set up an appointment at my local apple store and hope they can fix it there. Apple definitely needs to fix this bug.
