Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.

It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

I have the same issue in my 2013 Audi A6. The iPhone 6 connects to the bluetooth. I can play music over the system but when I attempt to make a call nothing comes through the car. Incoming calls, it rings but cannot answer it via the car. In order to hear the call I either have to switch to the phone or speaker phone. Very annoying.

I called Apple Support and opened a ticket on this. Of course they said it was the car manufacturer and I needed to get the firmware updated however, based on what I am reading on the web it is not just Audi's. It looks like this is a common problem for all types of cars. Sure would be nice if Apple took responsibility for it and came out with a fix.

I had same Bluetooth issues with iOS 8 on my iPhone 6; no phone/no music streaming although showing as "connected" with my 2 vehicles (VW and Audi).

Apple telephone technical support team solved issue with both cars as follows:

1. Delete the phone from handsfree memory in the Bluetooth car settings.

2. "Forget" the handsfree device (car) in the iPhone Bluetooth settings.

3. Reset ALL settings in iPhone (not just network settings)!!

(note: I had to reset ALL settings twice in a row for this to work.)

It worked in both cars! (Hope it stays working.....?)

You will have to reset wallpaper, and most other settings, as well. Certainly worth the trouble to get car Bluetooth up and running properly.

Good luck.

There is another lengthy discussion going on about this very issue, so it seems it is not limited to a specific iPhone model, but likely more to do with software and how we choose to update it/restore it.

iPhone 5 iOS 8 Bluetooth issues with Audi A1

I was having the same issues with my 5s. Once I Reset ALL settings I was able to use the device with hands free again. Your note that you had to go through this twice is interesting, it worked for me the first attempt. Also interesting is that you were unable to stream music. I could do that, so I knew the phone could connect but hands free calling was my problem.

Modifying the settings again was tedious and an inconvenience, but well worth the effort. Interestingly, I was able to connect to 3 different bluetooth headsets and Bose Mini Soundlink with no problems before I did the reset. All have been paired and tested successfully after the reset.

I'm hopeful this gets addressed in future versions of iOS releases, not just the next version of iOS 8. It would be nice to not have to deal with this setup each time we upgrade.

HHad the same problem with my BMW 528i; removed devices from bluetooth on car and turned off car. Removed BMW from iPhone bluetooth then reset all settings on iPhone 6. Started car and Bluetooth menu on both, paired and is working at momens, re-paired my Jabra Clear also and that too is now working. I saw comments that it worked initially but then reverted to problem, I'll know more as day goes on. Keeping fingers crossed, I had no problem with my iPhone 5 or 5s with iOS8 so I think it was something in the 6 or corrupt settings from 5 restore.

My 2013 Mercedes C250 has similar issues with my new iPhone 6 64 GB. My buddy who also has the same make and model car, also bought the iPhone 6 64GB on the same day as me and I am having bluetooth issues while he is not. So right off the bat, we know that this is not issue with all iPhones. I had set up my iPhone as a restore from back up of my iPhone 5S, while he had done a set up as a new iPhone. I tried the following and it seems to have fixed the issue:

1. Ask your car BT to forget all bluetooth devices

2. Ask your iphone to forget the car BT

3. Turn of bluetooth on your phone

4. Rename our iphone by going to Settings -> General ->About -> Name

5. Turn off your car, turn off your iPhone

6. Start the iPhone, start the car

7. Turn on bluetooth on the iPhone

8. Pair with car BT

This should fix the BT issue, at least it did for me.

HTH someone out there

My iPhone 6 Bluetooth is not working in my BMW. I tried all the advise I have seen in these forums but nothing has worked. I have deleted all phones from my car. It pair just fine, it even let's me call, but the second the person I call picks up the audio craps out. I mean really, if this issue isn't addressed soon by Apple I have 30 days to return it to Verizon. Come on Apple I really don't want to go android, but calling from my car is extremely important and I am not about to get ticketed and loose points on my license because your product won't function properly. They really need to address this asap.
