phone call from Yosemite does not work

does it matter which account you are signed in with on both the phone and laptop? I'm using my apple ID for both.

The Apple IDs should be spelled identically, including what comes after the @.

This was the first feature I tried with 10.10. The computer and phone must be on the same WiFi SSID. For me, it was just going into a contact and pressing the call button. Bluetooth does not need to be enabled for it to work.

Like I said - it is working to receive calls.. just not make. It should not be this difficult to work. There are enough people having this problem that it is not user error. I'm very mac literate.. I have all apple products, I develop... it just isn't working like it is supposed to.

I think I have narrowed it down to a problem with my iPhone... because my ipad is doing the same thing - not connecting to dial out... but gets incoming calls.

Are you making the calls from Contacts on your Mac?

i just checked with my ipad. a call to my iphone sets my ipad facetime ringing, i can answer it and we can talk.

however a call to my iphone sets my macbook factime ringing - but the call keeps failing ..??

That said, I have tried making calls from my contacts and it is not working. I have also tried just doing it from facetime and it also isnt working. Both say that I need to be on the same wireless network... which is weird - because everything else works and I am DEFINITELY on the same network and subnet.

I also just tried erasing my iphone and setting it up as a new iphone and putting it on the same network. Again, I can get phone calls... just cant make.

Have your tried signing out of FaceTime on Mac and then signing back in again?

Hand Off is feature for working with documents based on Bluetooth 4.0

iPhone Cellular is a completely different protocol using WiFi. (Implemented through the use of FaceTime)

And, I'm not talking about turning things off and on, I'm talking about signing out and then back in.
