iPhone 6 Music Volume Drop After Notification

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8 (version 8.1). Usually, when I receive a notification while listening to music via headphones, the volume of the song drops slightly for the notification sound to alert me and then returns to normal. I've recently noticed that it often seems to get "stuck" in a low volume and either goes back to normal after waiting 3-10 minutes or when I receive another notification. Has anybody else had this problem? can anyone give suggestions on how to permanently fix this problem? Thanks!

To think I'm having this problem when people have identified it last year ugh.

When I notice the volume is quite low (usually when it's plugged into my car with the aux cord) I have to start recording a snapchat, then the volume shoots up and is back to the right volume. Its a pain though, because sometimes I'm doing this 3 or 4 times within the space of 3 songs

Try disabling the video autoplay feature on the facebook app. Its likely that its attempting to play a video in the background while you were scrolling through your news feed.
Open Facebook app / more / account settings / video and photo / autoplay / disable autoplay.

This will also probably happen with other autoplay videos such as news sites etc on safari / chrome...

I've read through the articles and did A LOT of testing. The problem comes down to the Facebook app and its handling of audio on your phone. The specifics are related to auto-play of videos and scrolling through the news feed.

Notice that any app that uses audio shows up in the tray when you swipe up on the phone? If you play a video from the YouTube app and swipe up on the phone, you will see the audio level and a long URL. If you play music from iTunes on the phone, the artist info and song info will show up in the tray. EXCEPT, when you play a video from the Facebook app, it DOES NOT show up in the tray.

So, the Facebook app handles audio on your phone like a notification, and when a notification is paired with audio, the native audio control on the iPhone drops your music/podcast volume by half (or to zero) to allow the sound of the notification to come through. This must be a bug with the Facebook app. I tried changing all of the possible settings in the app to fix the problem, but I had no luck.

The solution, delete the Facebook app and use Safari on your phone to access Facebook. Playing the same videos from Facebook through Safari will now show up in the tray with the url string.

Hope this helps someone. We need to direct this attention to Facebook support and not Apple support. It's not Apple's problem.

Also, I think it's safe to say that any app that handles audio playback like a notification will cause this same problem to occur.

Ace, take a look at the photo. You see how my podcast is displayed in the tray when I swipe up on the phone? I can control the audio from there. Same if I play a video from Safari or YouTube.

This is not the case when I play a video from the Facebook app. It does not appear here. Just as a notification for text or email does not appear here. You cannot pause a text message sound from here. So, the Facebook app is handling audio on the iPhone like a notification. It's not controllable by the user. Notifications on the iPhone seem to have priority, so audio currently playing on the iPhone will be dropped by half to allow the sound of the notification to come through. The Facebook app seems to have the same control over audio but gets stuck at limiting audio volume.

It's good to know I'm not going nuts and to discover so many people complaining about this issue. I can't believe the lenght of this post and the fact that Apple hasn't done anything about it (or at least commented on the issue). It definitely has to do with the notifications (not only Facebook but any other app that handles "sounds" in the same way); thus, Apple ought to really take a look on this issue.

It's annoying!
