Does MS Office 2008 work with El Capitan?

Is there anyone here that have used MS Office 2008 with El Capitan and can inform me if it works or not? Word and Excel works fine with Yosemite and I do not want to upgrade to El Capitan if Office 2008 if it does not work. Thank you.

I spent about four hours on the phone being transferred from different helpdesk's in Apple and then to Microsoft and then back to Apple. Basically, Microsoft no longer supports office 2008. Consequently, they don't care that it doesn't install. Microsoft wants you to buy a subscription to their new office service. Apple also doesn't care, it's not their software. So here we are, stuck with software we paid for that we can no longer use. Which is unfortunate, because office 2008 is more than most people will ever need regardless of all the bells and whistles in Microsoft's newest version.

He/she wasn't asking for "alternatives" - they are asking about MS Office - a product for good or ill with the largest footprint in the real world.

Little niche developer-hobbies like NeoOffice, OpenOffice, or Libre aren't ever going to amount to anything, except a few specialists. They are dead-ends, practically.

Threads meandering all over the place are not helpful to a person asking a specific question.

Thanks for your opinion, I have filed it somewhere appropriate.

Now why don't you try to help the OP with the problem?

Very cute. Not. You won't be known for your wit.

The only people that can "help with the problem" are, besides Apple and Microsoft, are those who have Office 2008 (latest update revision) up and running on Mac OS X 10.11. The person is asking about MS Office, not some little toy-niche program.

My question was, did anyone try a clean-install of 10.11 and then try installing Office 2008 on it?

I'm waiting for the first dot-release before doing anything with El Capitan.

A few hours and suddenly you're an expert.

Help the OP, I don't give a fig what you think.
