ios9 icloud backups missing information

restored my new 6s plus from my 6 plus backup on 9.01 and everything transferred fine. backed up my 6s plus on 9.01 and did a complete software restore to 9.02. loaded the back up and the text and imessages do not display. also all my app that were "signed in" to services facebook ect now required me to re-sign in. This has never happened before.

Anyone else experience this , does anyone have a fix?

I have the same issue. I went from a 8.3 iPhone 6 to a 9.0 6s with no issues using my iCloud backup created on 9/26. On 9/28 I did a back up of my 6s and it said successful. Then I went to do a clean update of 9.0 to 9.0.1 on my 6s that's when I lost all my text and iMessage, all my call history and I was logged out of all my apps, also a lot of them now crash upon opening or have no data. I have a call in to Apple and it was escalated to engineering. I am hoping they can restore my good backup from my 6 that was done on 9/26.

No, and i called yesterday since they said 24-48 and I had not heard anything and it had been 72 hours. I talked to a different level 2 rep since the one handling my case has not called or emailed me an update. the rep said they saw that there were no updates on my case. Very frustrating since I lost a lot of data I would like to get back. i will update when I here something.

spent time on phone with tier two tech support tonight. For some reason my iCloud backup from my 6s plus shows in their system as being created with an iPhone 5. They believe this is cause the incomplete restore. DoNot have a solution yet but they are working on it. I don't know if you got your issue fixed but thought this may help.

I Talked to Apple yesterday and they said per engineering nothing could be done. So I restored from an April back up. Now everything is working except for the fact I am missing 6 months of data. They also said my back up was from an iPhone 5 even though I backed up from an iPhone 6S. I do still have the back up so if they fix it I can try an restore it from that back up. It's very disappointing that I lost so much data but I don't want to wait for Apple so I can use my new phone.

no, I still have an open case. The last i heard was that their engineers were going to be taking a look at my iCloud back ups.

That was friday. I was going to try again and restore from latest iCloud backup and see what happens tonight. I'll let you know the results

for for the time being I am backuping up to iTunes every night.

Hi,

Add me to the list of people with this same issue (icloud backups made on 6s 9.02 indicating they are for iphone5 and preventing them from restoring).

Let me know if the engineers figure out a fix for you.

In addition to this thread, here are all the other ones I found with same issue:

So I'm wondering if I restore our iPhone 6s icloud backup to my iPhone 5s if it will load properly since its obviously not loading properly on the phone it was made from after a full reset (or a replacement phone from the apple store earlier today)? Then I can manually backup the iphone 5s to my computer if it restores properly. Then reset the iphone 6s and restore it from the computer backup I just made on the computer from the iphone 5s.

That sounds like an interesting idea.... Let me know if it works.... I may be able to borrow a friends 5s

1. back it up to computer BACKUP A

2. restore from icloud 6s 9.0.2 and verify things are all there

3. back it up to computer again BACKUP B

4. restore BACKUP B to my 6s on computer

5. restore BACKUP A to friends 5s on computer

If I had to do over again I would try:

1. Backup original phone to computer (if you use iCloud backup I think you have to disable find my phone to enable the manual computer backup buttons).

2. Restore new phone from computer backup you made.

3. Done (assuming the issue is only iCloud related...).

Here is how it happened to me:

1. iCloud backup of iPhone 6s

2. Full wipe of iphone 6s

3. iCloud Restore that ended in a white screen with an apple in the middle. Then a power reset to find some the call history and messages missing. Not too sure what else but I think some application data was also not restored....

4. Oh no I'm stuck!

NOTE: I tried this 2-3 times with the same outcome each time.... I also tried it on the original phone and new phone. The original iphone 6s was replaced because it had issues with locking up and camera would not focus and was swapped by apple with the same model phone.

I'm trying this right now....and have no idea what will happen.

1. iCloud backup from iPhone 6s that won't properly restore on an iPhone 6s.

2. Wipe my iPhone 5s (technically I did an iCloud backup of my 5s prior and will restore from it after I'm done since the 5s is my phone and the 6s is my wifes phone)

3. Restore iPhone 6s icloud backup backup to iPhone 5s and cross my fingers it works.

4. Backup iPhone 5s to computer

5. Wipe iPhone 6s

6. Restore iPhone 6s from computer backup that was made from the iPhone 5s.

7. Done.

Finished the above and it did not work. Did not hit the white screen with an apple logo but the messages and call history did not restore. It is strange that the call history on the iPhone 6s just randomly appeared. Even though the icloud restore completed and it was not there. I'm stumped. I wonder if they somehow fixed something which caused it to push through. Almost wondering if the same will happen with the text messages sooner or later.
