Huawei internet dongle not working in El Capitan

My friend updated to EL Capitan yesterday (1st Oct) to the official release version of El Capitan. He uses an Internet Dongle/fob/adapter (that connects to a cellular network) to connect to the internet.

He had no issues with it while using it in Yosemite, but after the update to El Capitan it is not working.

I have checked the Internet dongle with other computers and it works fine. therefore I believe the issue may be with Java thats running on OS X 10.11

The internet dongle being used is a Huawei E173. It is working on a 3G GSM network in Sri Lanka (Dialog Axiata).

Any workaround this would be great.

Hello to all;

I have a k5150 and after downloading the latest versions of the Vodafone operator and manufacturer Huawei, nothing works.

Before each test, I have carefully uninstalled any previous installation and also disabled csrutill.

If I try to create a connection manually, there is no modem to select. (System Preferences, Network)

My conclusion is that the drivers are not recognized and the system does not identify the Modem. 😢

I wonder if this happens to others.

Thanks for the link Adam! Mobile Partner works perfectly, however I have a different software (Elisa E-Partner) on my mobile modem, which is impossible to install after upgrading to El Capitan. Hence every time I insert my modem an app installation window pops up. I wonder how to force it not to show up, since I dont need it anymore?

Dear sitharnorbu,

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011) with El Capitan 10.11.1. I just followed the steps indicated in the README file:

1. Start computer in recovery (cmd +R during startup)

2. Then after system started go to terminal and enter csrutil disable.

3. Restart computer and install software from Huawei

4. Insert modem and test the connection

5. Restart computer again in recovery mode and now enter in terminal csrutil enable.

6. Restart again and it's done!

I hope this will help you.

I upgraded to EL Capitan and the Huwawei E1752 HSPA USB dongle stopped working.

Disabling csrutil worked for me.

Much appreciated.

Steps I used

  1. Restarted in Recovery mode (CMD+R while restarting).
  2. From Terminal typed: csrutil disable
  3. Restarted.
  4. Removed existing installation of my dashboard (8.ta) [trashed it]
  5. Reinstalled dashboard from USB dongle.
  6. Success!

NO NEED TO DO "csrutil". SOLVED.

Dongle: E1552 on Maxis Mobile

Method:

  1. Uninstall old Maxis broadband (Mobile Connect) -> Go to Applicatioins, right click on Maxis broadband (or old Mobile Connect) -> Send to Trash -> Empty Trash
  2. Browse to http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=54976&version=17 4669&siteCode=worldwide&view=true
  3. Download Stick Mobile Partner (for MAC10.11)
  4. Extract the zip file and run the iso installer
  5. Apple will prompt installer cannot run due to restrictions bla bla bla -> click OK/Cancel
  6. Right Click on Mobile Partner installer icon and click Open, This will prompt the same but with Open and Cancel option -> click Open
  7. Follow the installer instruction. Enter Mac user password when prompted. Click finished when done.
  8. Launch Mobile Partner app. The previous settings are already preconfigured (not sure how it detects)
  9. Test connectivity. Done.

This is how I did it without to use CSRUTIL command. The Mobile Partner is not for my dongle but I believe as long as the Mobile Partner runs, it will detect your dongle.

Cheers and Happy holiday
