iOS 9.1 causing app store issues

hello, i have updated my iPhone 6s to IOS 9.1, which claims to fix in issue with app store downloads and game center log in.

strange enough, i started having these issues after the update, i never faced it with IOS 9.0.2. now i'm unable to use the app store for any download, and i can't access game center either. i'm even facing some wifi connectivity issues. so basically, IOS 9.1 gave me the issues that it was supposed to solve 😕

i have tried hard resets and restores, i have lost some valuable data and apps along the way, nothing worked. i'm using iTunes on my macbook to install apps for the time being. but any idea how to fix this ? never in 6 years i faced issues with iPhones. so i guess now apple have broken my virginity.

We trouble shooted to see if it was the device or software. I logged into the App store/itunes on a new device running 9.1 and a new device running 8.4. The bug only occurred on devices that were using 9.1. So in the case of this bug a new device won't remedy the problem and it is most likely a problem with Apple IDs.

For those who got their iphones replaced by Apple, then you guys are VERY lucky. I live in the Philippines and like the other user, I got sent home too. They said nothing is wrong with the phone. But I REALLY cant download anything. I dont even think they know anything about the bug. I dont think they've been informed about the ios 9.1 bug. It's so frustrating this kind of thing happen. You guys are lucky they replace your phone...

Man! Finding this post makes me feel sooooo much better. Also makes me sad.

While I was still running 9.0.2, I did an OTA iCloud backup. Then I made an encrypted backup in iTunes. This was Oct 21. Then I updated to 9.1 OTA and noticed it was freezing on me. A couple of my apps weren't opening anymore (apps that had in app purchases and paid up to remove ads). Some apps were fine. My music was all still there, but nothing would play. Everything was stuck on 0:00 for the time. I decided to do a restore from my itunes backup, and thats where it got bad. None of my apps were installing, they were all sryck at waiting. I tried a couple hard resets, but no go. Also noticed none of my music was populating, and family sharing would not turn on. I was able to get my apps installed again through another iTunes restore, but then I noticed my apps were not updating in the App Store app.

I called Apple Support and spent a total of 6 hours on the phone over the course of 3 days. They used screen sharing while I had my iPhone connected to my MacBook Pro to see me try setting the phone up as NEW and that it doesn't work. We created a new iTunes account, and everything worked fine. Tried with my regular account, and no go. I was told, "Apple really dropped the ball on this one" about a week ago. Still waiting for an update.

I Was told by an iTunes Sr. Advisor that "Apple really dropped the ball on this one" after 5-6 hours on the phone. They told me not to bother going to an Apple Store because this isn't hardware related, that it's an issue with iOS 9.1, although neither of the two 9.2 betas fix this in any way at all. Two different iPhones both with the same problem as soon as 9.1 was installed. I had my iPhone connected to my MacBook Pro and was sharing my iPhone's screen through QuickTime and the Apple tech was connected through Screen Sharing. We set my iph 6S up as new, created a new iTunes account and everything worked fine when I tried downloading some other free apps. We again set it up as a new phone and then I signed in with my regular/normal iTunes account and it wasn't working; same issues as everyone else.

I've also noticed that any photos I've added in the photo app on my MacBook Pro show that they've been uploaded, but when I go to iCloud.com/#photos, nothing I've added are there. Music I've added to my iTunes library looks like it's been matched, but I can't tell if it has. Nothing plays on my 2nd device, my Apple TV isn't showing any updated music, and my iPhone doesn't show any music at all. iTunes shows that I can listen to music through the cloud, though, like how it does for my bookmarks and stuff under the info section.

One of the techs I spoke to told me to just create a new Apple ID. Knowing the answers ahead of time, I asked her if ALL 1187 of my Apps would be available on that account for me to download. She said no. I asked if my iTunes Match library would be available under that account, and she said no. I asked her if all of the movies and TV shows I've purchased would be available, and she literally told me, "Yeah, I get it.." and I said "Apparently you don't!"

So yeah. I was told not even to go to the Apple Store because they have no solution.

On the thread I started 2 weeks ago Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1, we all have the same issues.

My iPad Mini has been working as normal (meaning prior to 9.1!) since Monday night... Today since 16:00 (UK time), all usual things are dead again: hyperlinks, Apps store, Apple Music... My iPhone 6 literaly died (black screen with the Apple in the middle, heating up furiously) this week on Wednesday. THE ONLY WAY is to have replacement for all our devices, and NEVER to update from 9.02. I have another appointment at the Genius bar on Monday morning, I won't leave their shop until they offer me a solution

It is! I was actually planning on buying a new MacBook Pro and I just can't bring myself to do it because of this issue. I told him that I'm LITERALLY ready to spend thousands of $$$, STILL after all of this, but won't until this is fixed. I'm not so sure they care all that much.

I know a replacement iPhone wouldn't work. Has anyone tried setting up OS X (10.11.x) after having this problem? I'm not in the mood to lose all of my apps there, too. If it's even an issue. Photos look to be uploading. iTunes Match seems to be "matching".. Is it, though?

Bull indeed

You just can't resist piling it on, can you?

This was my solution from a earlier post after setting up the new Apple account so I didn't lose all my apps and it has been working. See below.

Found a temporary workaround to re enable cloud connectivity/ updates. It's not ideal but it works and you won't lose your past purchases. Follow the steps below. Note you will need a secondary email address that isn't tied to your Apple account.

1) Go to AppleID and create a new Apple account then verify this account via email.

2) On your device go to iCloud family sharing and enable this account as a family member with all privileges

3) Validate this family member via the verification email

4) Now you can use this new Apple account for itunes downloads, updates and Apple Music (note all your previous purchases will show as free download)

5) Sigining into Game Center with your old Apple account will sync all your game saves on the new Apple account

6) Voila! It's not simple but it works.

Hopefully Apple fixes this issue in the next update or we may all be going to new Apple accounts. I think this only happend to certain Apple IDS. Not sure if it was linked to iCloud backups or family sharing since I had both enabled when I did the update. We are definitely certain it is a Apple ID &9.1 corrupted connection to apple's iCloud. Just not sure what's the common denominator.

Note if you go to the Apple Store please show this thread and maybe we can get this error escalated!

Good luck!
