Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

iPad, iOS 9.1, This is an iPad Pro

It’s something that didn’t show up in our pre-launch tests we ran. Until we have more information that is the work around. It is under warranty and as soon as we find the cause we will either launch a software update to fix it, or release a news article recalling the defective models for a replacement if it is hardware.

just received this from support...and apparently there is no projected time frame.

Don't know if anyone has tried it,I did post yesterday.

I Bought my iPad pro a week ago, charged it overnight, and like most people,it was dead.Tried everything, but it wouldn't come back to life.Eventually held home and power button together for ages, probably 20 seconds or more, but Apple appeared and then all was fine.

CHarged it again that evening, and back to a dead screen.

AFter a lot to searching and trying different things over a couple of days,I found the solution for me anyway.

GO TO SETTINGS,THEN ICLOUD,THEN BACKUP IN BACKUP PRESS BACKUP NOW,

EVEN IF ITS BEEN DONE AUTOMATICALLY RECENTLY DO IT MANUALLY.

I THEN CHARGED IT FULLY AND NO PROBLEMS AT ALL SINCE.

I DONT HAVE SIRI ENABLED IN FACT THAT WAS NOT ONE OF THE FIXES THAT I TRIED.

IT worked for me and obviously the person I got it from.

WORTH A TRY

Using an older cable is not the solution. I've yet to use the cable that came with my Pro, and my Pro is dead each morning (I've always used an older cable). I also do not use iCloud backups, and so that's not the problem, either. I haven't tried airplane mode, and so I probably should try it.

However, note that any solution needs to be tested over multiple days. A one-day test is not going to cut it, as people have reported "solutions" that appear to work for a couple days, but then start failing.
