Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

iPad, iOS 9.1, This is an iPad Pro

FIX: Apple support had me restore Ipad via iTunes and set up as new not with any back up. This fixed the issue. I would say there still needs to be a software

update but they found that when they had me run a diagnostic there was a corruption in the back up..

So basically restore ipad and redownload iOS 9.1 with iTunes, and set up as new. Took about an hour.

As a data point, I have not encountered the problem central to this thread.

Some of my particulars are: 128 GB cell, Siri enabled, started off with back up via iTunes from my iPad Air, only charges so far have been done with my pc or from an battery back-up outlet but not using the new iPad Pro cable, I am using Logitech Create keyboard, and so on.

I actually have not encountered any problems with my iPad Pro. I wanted SG but had to order silver as I have not been able to locate a SG with AT&T Next that would be available before my international trip next week.

I'll just add that I checked my iCloud backup settings, it's never backed up to iCloud even though it's set to do that, maybe it's getting stuck trying to backup when plugged in. I did a manual backup. I also turned on 'hey siri' although I'm still not sure I'm going to yell at my iPad when it's plugged in. I had to turn it off on my phone because too many times it heard a phrase that sounded similar on the radio and turned on inadvertently, and then when I actually try to use the feature she ignores me.

I'll leave it plugged in today and see what happens.

Hi Gang,

Finally got hold off my LTE Silver Pro yesterday; I topped the initial charge to 100% and have been keeping it plugged (just for the time being) and I am pleased to report that I have not experienced anything.

On the things worth of noting, I set it up as a new iPad (my preference), hence no iCloud backup. I am using the Pro's charger, but coupled with certified mophie's lightning cable (9ft-long - my preference as most of us use it in the household).

Personally, I am almost certain that this is a software issue.

Cheers & good luck y'all.

TThis is an outrageous situation. To occur to some many iPads , many from day one, and to people all over the world, it's inconceivable that this was not flagged up, during trials and reviews pre release.

SHame on Apple for not fixing it pre release, and seemingly, doing nothing quickly to remedy it. These are very expensive paperweights.

WHy should I have to enable Siri, to make this thing work? I loathe Siri, and never use it on my iphone. If this is the fix, why have Apple not sorted it?

i Sent my (second) ipad back, and got a refund.

I Am on live chat with apple and they say...quote.....It is potentially something that can be resolved by a software update, if it is a software issue. I’m looking here and while we have people reporting this issue on the forums, I’m not seeing anything internally about this being an issue we’re watching out for. I’m still looking though on that front.

Get ready for another surprise! I tried my SD card reader to transfer new photos from my camera to my new iPad Pro this morning for the first time and it won't work either. Worked perfect on my iPad 4 the last couple of years but not on my new iPad Pro. Come on Apple! What's going on here? We are your supporters! We buy your best new products! Please, for the love, say something! What's up with these fixes? New download coming?

These are real people with real problems who bought your new product and you won't even acknowledge these issues? Maybe if we all together start warning the general public in every forum out there that you just don't care! All these problems are real and we get nothing from you? I for one have been a supporter of Apple for years and for this new iPad up till now! However, my opinion is changing fast because you seem to think you're just too big to bothered now and we can all just go jump in the lake? Think again!

Please respond if you have this issue as well! My SD card reader won't work on any of my Apple devices now. It worked perfect until I downloaded iso 9.1

but now after that download I can't move my photos from my Canon 60D to my iPad via the SD card. This is vital to me and wine reason I bought the iPad Pro!

PLease speak up if you have this issue as well. This is important. Don't wait till you need it and it won't work, try it now and let's make it an issue for them to fix.

HHaving same problem as everybody else. Charge it overnight and in the morning I have to do a hard reset. Some folks have said that the new 9.2 data resolve the problem – but no official confirmation about the problem resolution by Apple. Hope they solve this issue soon . I think the more folks that right in and complain about this particular problem, the sooner Apple will take action remedy the problem.
