OS X 10.11.4 freezing and/or crashing while using Safari

Hi everyone!

Have others experienced freezing and sometimes crashing of Mac OS X 10.11.4 while using Safari? Is this a known issue or is it just me?

The way this manifests itself is that scrolling and mouse movements suddenly start to get slow and jerky. Then, within 30 seconds to a minute, the keyboard stops working and mouse clicks no longer have an effect, but the mouse cursor will still move. Then it either stays that way indefinitely or the system crashes. The only recourse is to force a reboot using the power button.

This happens to me every other day, but I cannot reproduce it on demand. I believe (but I'm not certain) that the first such crash has occurred before the recent upgrade to 10.11.4.

This is on a

You might want to reread this thread carefully before accusing me of not searching good enough. SebSemmi wrote: "Nope, installing the Combo Update doesn't solve anything. I did it yesterday and today I encountered the same problem again."

I don't have the time right now and I'm not desperate enough to resort to the generic "wipe and reinstall everything based on vague hope" sort of approach (not yet anyway).

I'd rather cling to another vague hope, which is that there might be engineers at Apple who actually understand what's going on and may come up with a fix.

I'm currently having the same problem when I click a link with an embedded video. Happened yesterday and today. I installed updates (el capitan) on 3/31 and it was fine. Haven't downloaded anything. Haven't even imported photos.

On 4/2, I made a change to an application's setting. In f.lux, I previously had "start at login" disabled. I manually launched the app as needed and used it without issue. On the afternoon of 4/2, I enabled the startup option. Within a few hours of enabling start at login, my MBP froze for the first time. MBP began to get very hot. Unable to open force quit via keyboard commands. Held power button until MBP shut down. Restarted MBP and worked a few more hours without issue. Shut down (instead of letting it sleep as is my norm) for the night. Restarted this morning. Worked about 30 minutes before it froze upon clicking a link w/ an autoplay video. Forced shutdown again. Restarted. I disabled the startup option for f.lux and quit the app. Made sure autoplay was disabled as per this article: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6626603?tstart=0.

Long story short: prior to the 3/31 update and enabling f.lux at login, my MBP never once froze.

Having the same issue ..

The problem has started after 10.11.14 update and occurs very randomly while watching videos via Safari. After doing a clean OS reinstall and shifting to Chrome, I have again faced the problem today. I wonder whether it could be a hardware issue or someway software... Please help me to deal with the problem.

P.S. I saw some more people facing the same issue in this forum, just to say Chrome was not a solution in my case.

No, indeed, nothing. The problem is only Apple related and this is why

I've made a clean install of El Capitan, with SSD erase.

Downloaded 10.11.4 combo and installed it.

Nothing more added on the system : no data, no softwares, no turning off options, nothing disabled. El Capitan at totally default settings.

Used Safari, default settings too, no extensions. And started crashing on webpages with videos.

Can't do anything else to prove the problem is only from Apple stuff.
