MacBook Pro 2016 15" butterfly keyboard problem

Hi

On my new MacBook Pro 2016 15", all keys (butterfly) works perfectly - except the enter key. Even though it does work, It doesn't "click" and you can't feel your are pressing it down - it feels like pressing the metal next to it.

It worked fine the first week.

Anybody experiencing this problem?

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.1)

Guys, after reading around, I've solved this.

There's so much less space around and under the new keyboard, that dust and little dirt effects the keyboard much quicker. I simply blew fiercely around and under the stuck key, and it promptly worked again.

Do you have some documents from Apple that you have replacement or repaired unit? I asked because Apple in Poland has never heard about this issue. I took Macbook to authorized service but I am worried that they will say it is normal and polish Apple won't add anything else cause they don't know this case. This type of document could be very very helpful for me.

I bought the 2017 MacBook Pro 15" and after a day or two the letter a key was stuck. I brought it into an Apple Store and they replaced the laptop. Then the same thing happened on the new laptop with another letter on the keyboard 5 days later. Today they are sending out for the keyboard repair. If this isn't corrected with the repair I'm going to return it and buy an older model without the butterfly keys. My whole experience with the butterfly keys is not at all a good thing!

I just got the kaby lake as well. right arrow is making a deaf sound (not clicking) and sometimes not working. the O is going down as well. bought it from la Fnac in France and I live in Marrakesh. Hope the warranty is international.

This feels like the beginning of a long movie. for 3.3 k apple should've fixed their ish. We need reliable key

board before new processors.

I just bought the 2015 MacBook Pro instead. I always feel more assured when apple products have been on the market a while that there won't be all of these hiccups. I tried out the new keyboard in store and wouldn't have minded if I got that one, but with all of the issues ...yikes. I think the 2015 model keyboard also has more travel which makes it more comfortable for long term typing as it feels more cushiony , which I'm also a bigger fan of.

Here'sthe feedback I just sent to Apple, regarding their crap touchbarMacBook Prokeyboards:

I am on a 13" touchbar MBP, which just days ago had the entire top case replaced due to keyboard defects. I am typing on the new keyboard, which has, so far, had a stuck left CMD key, stuck up-arrowkey, and as I type this now, aspacebar that is stuck down. (As you can perhaps tell from the absence ofspaces here and there in this message.)

The computerthat had this topcase replaced wasitself a replacement ofa 15" MBP which I originally purchased, which also had stuck keys (as well as failing powerdiagnostics.)

I've had enough. The owner of at least 15 Apple devices, between iPhones,iPads, AppleTV's and MacBooksPros, I am not going to waste time with thisany more.

Thekeyboarddesign is obviously defective. I am going to buy a Windows notebook -- something I thought I'dnever again do.

I am beyond frustrated. Why did Apple screw up a keyboard design that worked fine? I use the computer for work, and I can't spend my life taking this computer to the Apple Store.

Same here. Brand new 15" MacBook Pro, and the "n" key stopped working after only three days! Got it working again by turning the computer over and tapping the underside of the case per a YouTube video. Maybe voodoo but it worked. Then the problem came back the next day, so I did it again.

Just ordered an electronics air duster from Amazon on the advice of my son who has lived with the same problems on his MBP for the past year. Son says that everyone in his company has MBPs and everyone has problems with their keyboards, even after getting them replaced by Apple. They keep them going with air dusters and spudgers. Just want you want in a portable computer you take on business trips and use on planes, right?

Apple continues to both delight and disappoint.

Amazing isn't it? You buy this expensive machine, which was designed and manufactured with a faulty keyboard design and Apple makes you pay for their mistake. In what other ******* company in the world would this be considered acceptable? Apple are you listening? I bought AppleCare just so I can plan on having them replace this a minimum of 5 times after the standard warranty has expired. I sure hope this gaff severely eat into their profits

I have similar problems with the 12" MacBook Pro (2016 model bought 2017). Mostly, I have problems with the 'n' and 'b' keys, which either skip or, if you press a bit harder, give double letters. I also get problems with the cursor jumping randomly to another part of the text while I am typing, for no apparent reason.

In addition, the new keyboard is very noisy. If, like me, you often work in a library or quiet study space, the clatter of the new keyboard is embarrassing, and trying to type quietly only make more letters skip.

Apple made a major mistake with this new keyboard! Contrary to the publicity, it is just cheap and nasty. When we spend £3,000 on a new laptop we deserve much better! I have had several Apples before, but never with such an unreliable keyboard.

I took it to the Apple Store genius bar and they showed me keyboard settings. Worth looking at, but does not solve the problem. They say they can do nothing and recommended that I buy a refurbished laptop with the old keyboard (but will not refund the one I have).

I hope there will be enough complaints that Apple will finally redesign the keyboard more like the old one and offer free retrofits to all of us who find ourselves downgraded.

I purchased a 2016 MacBook Pro, 13" last spring. The space bar started sticking, so I took it along when I drove the 4 hours to the nearest Apple store, thinking it'd be prudent to have a "genius" look at the problem. The tech broke the clip, and the machine had to be sent in to the repair center for replacement of the top. The repair center tried to bill me $450 to repair (it's under AppleCare), blaming me for the problem. The store (Mayfair, Milwaukee) agreed to cover the cost, but eventually ended up sending me a new machine. Two weeks later, and the "t" is sticking on the new machine. Do I trust the techs? Not at that store, but to ship it in to have it repaired, only to be without my machine for another 2+ weeks isn't attractive, nor is the idea that the problem will come back with another key. Apple has a problem with the new design, and it needs to be addressed.

They tried that one on me, the tech said that the butterfly clip broke when he was trying to repair the key. The repair center tried to blame me, and told me that I'd be responsible for the $450 charge. I put up a fuss (it's under AppleCare), sat on hold for the better part of the day, then the day after, and I think that they got tired of hearing from me, and the store agreed to pay for the repair.

I had a better experience in Edinburgh. On my second visit, I invited the technician to type 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog' several times and see how many mistakes he made. He didn't even bother, and agreed to get the keyboard replaced (in the store, though they have to order parts). He said it would take less than a week, and would be free unless they found I had done something (I haven't). I await their call!
