iPhone 6 screen freezes after iOS 10.3.1 update

It's the first time it happens to me, after updating to the latest IOS the phone started working wrong, the screen freezes, it turns off alone and it opens apps and chats without touching the screen. I think it's a problem of the update as many iphone 6 an iphone 6 plus are having the same issue. I tried almost everything but it didn't worked.

I'll be very grateful if you can solve it.

Hi, ff80uru!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

After reading your post, I understand that the touch screen on your iPhone 6 is not functioning as expected; it will become unresponsive at times, and other times it will select apps without input from you. You've also noticed that the iPhone will unexpectedly shut down. I rely on my iPhone every day, so I know it's important for it to work as expected. I'd be happy to help.

To troubleshoot the touch screen of your iPhone, I recommend utilizing this article: If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch

You can use the instructions here to help with the iPhone unexpectedly shutting down: If your iOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly

If you continue to have trouble with your iPhone 6 after using those articles, please get in touch with Apple Support directly for additional assistance. You can reach them here: Contact Apple Support

Have a lovely day.

That's 'the fun part' downgrading back to 10.2.1. isn't possible, unless you already have made a backup of that version on your computer before you upgraded (which you probably didn't, why would you!?)

The 10.3.2 beta version is also available it seems, but not supported at all by apple, because it's a beta version...

You can however reinstall 10.3.1 if that turns out to be even worse.

I also contacted apple support, they want me to send in my Phone for repairs and call the arising issues after the update to be a 'coincidence',...

So it's either waiting for the next version of Ios to become available, and hope that solves the issues, sending in the Phone for repairs, or just ditch apple (at least the current Phone you have) and lookout for another one...

Reverting back to 10.2.1 isn't possible even if you backed up your device as Apple has stopped signing that firmware altogether. 10.3 isn't signed anymore. If you'll restore from that image, It'll tell you that the firmware is too old to be restored.
Yes, that's very strange, specially when they did a pretty hefty change in Underlying file system then they should have remained opened the option of going back to Non APFS (Apple File System- New File system introduced in 10.3) Version of iOS.
Although my iPhone was pretty fine in 10.3 but the update 10.3.1 isn't really working.

Seems the problem might be related to Apple trying to force everyone onto enabling analytics. I just messed about with the settings randomly and decided to enable everything under Analytics and now the problems are completely fixed. Problems included: slowdowns, touchscreen malfunctions, having to reboot the phone due to previously mentioned slowdowns.

The phone was repaired the same day as the OS upgrade so many thanks to everyone for alerting me to the fact it's an OS problem and not the hardware.

Hi ff80uru,

I have the same issue, with my iPhone 6 after the update (to iOS 10.3.1), in particular screen freezes, apps and chats opened without touching the screen, which forced me to hard reset the phone (home+power). After cleaning the device (eliminate useless apps, old photos, old videos,...) and looking for the problem, I have identified, at least for me, the possible cause: camera' sensor. In fact, casually, I covered the camera's lens (front and back) and noticed that immediately stopped freezing and apps stopped to open themselves (If the problem came back, covering the lens the problem resolved again). I hope this escamotage will be helpful first to who is experiencing the same issue, if it is identical to mine, and second for developers who are working on the upcoming update so they can patch it.

I hope this post will be helpful to the community.

Greetings

Confirmed, after the 10.3.1 update I have funny screen response behavior as though it thinks I'm pushing buttons and I'm not. Sometimes an app seems to freeze. And other odd behavior -- as someone else said it feels like someone else has control of my phone and I'm fighting them. I have not had the "turn off alone" problem.

Tboymasif refered to enabling all the analytics. Did a google search on how then turned everything on. After 24 hours I have not had issues but am cautiously optimistic.

Please try enabling all the analytics then test your phone for awhile and report back. Work or not?

With all due respect, this issue is happening to thousands of people. I think it goes beyond the simple fix. There is something extremely wrong with this latest update. Especially with users of iPhone 6. I depend on my phone every day as it's my office. This is unacceptable. I am definitely going to be switching to Samsung after this. I have been an Apple user for over 20 years. Very disappointed with the way things are going right now. It's as if you guys did not care
