iOS 11 incredibly slow on iPhone 7 Plus

So frustrated - iOS11 installed perfectly and works great on my iPad Pro. Installed on my iPhone 7plus (with 90GB free space) a few hours later and the phone is essentially unusable. The install went OK but when I click on any app (3rd party or native iOS - like Mail or Messenger) - there is a 20 second delay before the app opens. Unable to make or receive phone calls, texts.

Reset network settings, then all settings, then a complete erase / restore - still slow as Christmas. My phone, at this time, is essentially useless. Google Searches don't show this as a common problem - I'm hoping someone here has experienced this and has a suggestion?

I'll join the choir.
I have the exact same problems on my iPhone 7 (128 GB): Extreme lag, no sound, no vibration. I've tried reinstalling as new phone without it helping. Rolling back to 10.3.3 gave me a working phone again.

Please fix this ASP!

This is nuts.

I also had some repair done on my iPhone 7 128 GB by another company than Apple. Phone works perfect in iOS 10.3.3.

Just called Apple to ask what I was supposed to do and referered that Apple Support had mentioned hardware issues to some of you guys. I was told that since iOS 10.3.3 worked perfectly, it wasn't a hardware problem!

So my best chance would be to wait for yet another update and see if that helped anything. This isn't really an option as my waranty (if it's still any good - Apple told me it was) is valid until the 3rd of October.

I could also update to iOS 11 and call back from another phone and they would check to see if they could figure out the problem.

Or I could visit an authorized apple dealer/repairshop with the phone with iOS11 (we don't have any Apple Stores in Denmark), but they would probably just say, that it wasn't a hardware problem because the phone worked in iOS10.3.3 and then they couldn't/wouldn't do anything.

So later today, I'll call Apple again from another phone and see. Next thing would be to visit an authorized repairshop. If this doesn't resolve anything, then I either need to wait for another update or buy a new phone 😢

Unfortunately, that's not true.

New versions of iOS can use the hardware in slightly different ways such that something that used to work in 10.3.3 will no longer function in iOS 11 - sort of like if you have a broken lock on the back door of a house, you won't know until you stop coming in the front door.

unless you have a backup that you manually saved BEFORE you upgraded to iOS11. Itunes (at lease on the PC) only keeps the last backup. In my case, iTunes backup up after I did the upgrade to 11 so my only upgrade was done on 11 - meaning once I downgraded I was unable to do a restore. Even though backups are apps / data / settings and not the OS itself, they are somehow tied to a version of the iOS. In my case, the last backup was on 11 so when I tried to restore after my downgrade it didn't work.

Just spent the last 3 hours re-downloading / trying to remember what apps I had. You're right - a royal pain.

Alright fellas, So I had my phone call with apple last night, they basically have no idea what is going on so they don't seem to have put all of the reports together yet.

They talked me through the possibility of doing a fresh install of iOS 11 and setting up as a new phone, I told them I have done that 4 times already to no avail.

They took a copy of my diagnostics file and told me that the engineers were going to look at it and get back to me when they had any updates, right now I'm torn between sticking with iOS 11 and letting the engineers work so that hopefully they can develop a fix, or rolling back to 10.3.3 so that I can actually use my phone.

Anyway apologies for the completely unhelpful update, apple support handled the situation really well but unfortunately they don't have a clue why it is happening considering my diagnostic file showed no fails when they scanned it.
