iOS 11 incredibly slow on iPhone 7 Plus

So frustrated - iOS11 installed perfectly and works great on my iPad Pro. Installed on my iPhone 7plus (with 90GB free space) a few hours later and the phone is essentially unusable. The install went OK but when I click on any app (3rd party or native iOS - like Mail or Messenger) - there is a 20 second delay before the app opens. Unable to make or receive phone calls, texts.

Reset network settings, then all settings, then a complete erase / restore - still slow as Christmas. My phone, at this time, is essentially useless. Google Searches don't show this as a common problem - I'm hoping someone here has experienced this and has a suggestion?

I'll join the choir.
I have the exact same problems on my iPhone 7 (128 GB): Extreme lag, no sound, no vibration. I've tried reinstalling as new phone without it helping. Rolling back to 10.3.3 gave me a working phone again.

Please fix this ASP!

I'm really sorry to hear about everyone in this thread but also slightly relieved because this is the exact issue that I am having!

I am receiving a call from a senior adviser tonight at 18:00 and I will do my best to update this thread if there are any updates or if I find a way to sort it that does not resort to reverting back to 10.3.3

Good luck!

There really isn't any information "out there" that I could find. I'm reasonable saavy re: searching for solutions and I just can't imagine this issue is isolated to the 3 of us! Please do update once you have an answer - it's a royal pain to re-build this thing from scratch (which is what I'm doing now).

Don't let the adviser tell you to wait 24 - 48 hours for the phone to "re-index" and that what you / we are experiencing is "normal". I waited 24 hours and it didn't seem any faster or slower.

Initially I thought it might have something to do with syncing a ton of data into the iCloud but that was one of the first things I turned off. Besides - even after doing a complete erase / reset iOS 11 still was completely unusable.

Good luck!!

I’m I. The exact same boat. I have an iPhone 7 Plus 128gb and I’ve noticed severe performance issues since the update. I often open up apps and they freeze. I also had the entire phone freeze and inoperable for 10-15 minutes before the screen restored but then my flash turned on randomly.

Don’t even get me started on the battery drain. I get about half the battery life of what I used to. I’m not sure if this is a ploy by Apple to try and get people to pay to upgrade their phones, but it’s ridiculous. Since I forgot to back up prior to upgrading, I can’t roll back. I’m stuck with this useless IOS update until Apple chooses to fix their glitches. I don’t understand how a company as big as Apple can screw up a major software rollouts repeatedly. I’m hopeful that an update will be available very soon.

Yes that was the original reason I log onto this community. I have the same problems. And apparently being in a Facebook messenger call and sending a text message at the same time is too much to ask since it just crashes the app. I mean 10 years ago on my iPhone 3GS i was able to multi task.

Can Apple at least give us a public announcement or acknowledgement of the various issues since iOS 11 ?

I know afs and high Sierra will be a good update for my MacBook Pro ssd but I don’t necessarily want to have the same experience I’m having with my 9 month old 128 iPhone 7 Plus because I updated the following morning of the release

Hi guys,

Been a while since I posted on this issue but I have been monitoring the thread, Just wanted to chime in and say that I have never had my screen replaced nor have I ever experienced any problems or damage relating to hardware.

I myself have been back and forth in touch with apple on this matter and they are currently looking at my 2nd set of log files that I have sent them.

I will update if I have any noteworthy or worthwhile updates.

Good luck guys.

So your recommendation is to move to New Jersey, hire a lawyer and fight Apple for the right to allow Joe Sleaze to work on your iPhone?

The moving to New Jersey thing would stop me. (Just kidding!)

Wish I never did. Our home has a sellable value today of $200,000. Our annual Real Estate tax is $7000. I have a son in rural Pennsylvania. His home has a sellable value of $600,000. His Real Estate tax is $4500. Our Sales Tax is 7%. Actually, it was just reduced to 6.875% (no joke).

We have two cars. My wife has a 2007 Accord and I have a 2008 Fit. Neither of us has ever been at fault in an accident in our entire lives. Our annual auto insurance for both cars (liability ONLY) is $1700.

On the other hand, New Jersey does not get impacted by serious weather situations. In fact, a hurricane (sustained wind => 74 mph) has NEVER touched New Jersey territory. As bad as the storm Sandy was several years ago, when it hit New Jersey, it was no longer a hurricane. We don't have tornadoes or earthquakes. We do get snow but the annual total is around ten to twenty inches (depending on location in the state). We almost never get a single snowfall greater than six or eight inches. Summer temperatures MIGHT hit a high of 95 degrees. Winter temperatures MIGHT hit a low of 15 degrees.

The state is crowded. In Jersey, we count people per square foot instead of per square mile. NJ does not have and has never had any unincorporated land.

While I'm waiting on the iPhone X, I need a phone that is compatible with my Apple Watch Series 3, which requires iOS 11. So, since I'm convinced these problems are a result of my aftermarket screen replacement, I think I'll buy a 64 GB 8 Plus, sell my downgraded (to 10.3.3) 7 Plus on eBay now, and then sell the new 8 Plus once I have the X in-hand on November 3. What a pain in the arse.
