Stuck at Verifying iPhone restore

hey mate, I guess I may have figured it out. I was having the same problem, I tried hard reboot and restore, in the first go it got stuck, saying confirmation needed from phone, then I repeated the same process(hard reboot and restore) but without removing the cable, this time it got extracted and went bit forward, then stuck at verifying, then I did the same thing the third time, this time went bit forward and got stuck at apple logo, and showed progress bar(hope comes in), at the fourth repetition progress bar went to complete end and bingo it started restoring the factory setting.

I have no idea why/how it worked but it did, and my phone is alive again, probably it's worth a try for you too, I mean what do you have to lose, wish you luck.

1) Disable your antivirus and try again -> if issue persist ↓

2) Try new USB CABLE -> if issue persist ↓

3) Attempt recovery mode as per Se non riesci a eseguire l'aggiornamento o il ripristino di iPhone, iPad o iPod touch - Supporto Apple -> if issue persist ↓

4) Attempt DFU mode as per https://www.imore.com/how-to-iphone-ipad-dfu-mode -> if issue persist ↓

5) Visti an ARS or AASP Apple - Find Locations

Update... I just talked with the Apple folks and they more or less told me to you know what. When I mentioned several others ran into the same problem, they tried to tell me there was no coincidence. I was told no one has reported this issue. Evidently they don't monitor/ read or consider reports on their Communities page valid.

Have the same problem, Phone seems perfectly OK, but iTunes get stuck on "Verifying Iphone Restore" with the connected phone showing a black apple and empty progress bar.

Looked for other solutions, but have no idea if the money for programs that offer to reset th OS is working -- like Dr.Fone from https://www.wondershare.net/

Just now, I already fixed my god forsaken phone with the same problem, All I did is i quoted above, while pressing the home button and power button, every a couple of second, until the iphone finish filling up its loading bar on screen.

Now im restoring it to my last save. It took me almost 1month to discover/found my solution, as I given up hope. hehe..

I was linked to this thread from a thread I had started on the same problem. Here is my find...

I purchased Reiboot based on a suggestion on this thread. reiboot's pro version didn't help. Reading on the internet, a few days back, I came across information that faulty chargers or lightning cable could ruin the charging system, which in turn would mean that even while the battery inside the iPhone is working fine, it won't charge.

I investigated my original apple lightning cables and also took a look inside the lighting port on the iPhone (6s plus, in my case) to see if there are any signs of burnout. What I found is that one of the cables (I have about 3/4 genuine ones and I dont use non-genuine ones), which I had connected to a transcend powered usb 3.0 hub had a black mark (almost like a small dot) exactly on one of the 8 connector 'pins'. Now, even the lightning port on the iPhone, had a similar blackish, burnt like, mark on the connector pin corresponding to the the pin on the cable, when looked at towards the side of the home button (upwards), where the port has the pins that connect to the pins on the lightning cable's socket.

I think this is either a case of a faulty chip inside the 6s plus which maybe causing over current or over voltage, or maybe some bad code in iOS11 which controls these chips, or could be a problem with either the lightning cable or the transcend hub.

I am going to post pictures in a day or two once I run a check on all the cables and the connector pin on my apple lightning dock.

Well, I think before going to somewhere else, you should do some homework that can help you to get out of the error you are coming across on your iPhone. I would like to give you few manual methods that works effectively to fix iPhone stuck at Verifying Update screen.

Follow the below methods as mentioned:

Method 1: Do hard reset of your phone

When you come across such error then its obvious thing that you cannot access your device as it get stucked. In this situation, try to do hard reset of your phone as this will help your device to work properly as before.

• For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, just press and hold Volume down + Power button at the same time
• For iPhone 6 or older version, just hold down Home button and Power button together

Method 2: Press Sleep/Wake Button

Many times doing hard reset does not work for many users, so you can try pressing Sleep/Wake button option for get out of iPhone stuck on verifying update screen. Only you have to press Sleep/Wake button for few times

There are even some other methods like:

Method 3: Reset network settings

Method 4: Delete iOS update and download again

Method 5: Update iPhone via iTunes

Method 6: Verify using cellular data

Method 7: Restore iPhone from iTunes Backup

Did you get this resolved. I have the same issue with my iPhone 6. Tried recovery multiple times but it always hang at the exact place ('Verifying iPhone restore....'). I brought the phone to the Apple Store and the Tech there said that they cannot fix this and I need a replacement instead. Needless to said, I took the phone back; and see (and hope) if anyone in the community has resolved this issue.

BTW, I looked into the iPhoneUpdater log files and it basically shows progress up to 'Competed checkpoint id: 0x619'.

looks like this is a problem with your phone after updating. Apple has even told one of the users on this page they need a replacement phone cos of this. Go to your local Apple store they are the only ones who are going to be able to help you here. If you don't have one close by etc then you can call Apple and they will be able to help you from there.

Finally gave up on this. I brought my iPhone 6 back to the Apple Store where they want to charge me $300 for replacement. BTW, the replacement is an Apple Certified Refurb iPhone 6. Once I found out that the replacement was a refurb, I opted for a 'trade-in'/upgrade instead. A new iPhone 6s is $450, and they would credit me $150 for my 'frozen' iPhone 6. Needless to say, I now have a new iPhone 6s (with more storage space 32G vs 16G), and it cost the same as their replacement program! It is unfortunate that I have to go this route!

I think this is a more pervasive issue than we might think. Have the exact same symptoms - updated to ios 11 with iPhone 6. Suddenly without warning my phone without any other symptoms went into repeated boot cycle. Restore on iTunes leads to it getting stuck in the exact same place as the screen grab above. Tried on numerous Macs and PCs and had the same outcome. Went to Apple store today and the Genius tech could only offer to try the same thing with one of their Macs. Even in DFU mode had the same outcome. She simply said, "Sorry. I don't know what is happening, but you will need to buy a new device and offered me the same $300 iPhone 6 as above." I wasn't satisfied with that, as I knew there has to be something going on that they just don't know yet, and wasn't surprised to see so many folks experiencing the same thing, which makes me think this has something to do with the ios 11 update and not our individual devices. I've been waiting on the X to upgrade, so I wasn't going to buy something else now, but would really love a fix so that my previously perfectly iPhone 6 isn't a glorified brick. This is really frustrating.

My sister ran into the same issue trying to update to IOS 11. She took her phone to the local Apple store and they tried reset the phone to factory settings and “wala” now itunes gets stuck “verifying Iphone restore”. She was offered a reconditioned phone for $300 but not a $150 discount towards the purchase of a new phone. She opted for an Iphone 8, 2 yrs contract with her carrier. I tried to convince her to wait because so many iphone 6 users have run into this same problem with the IOS 11 upgrade. Apple retail store techs are probably seeing this issue but just dont know what to do other than offer a reconditioned phone. Now I have her phone and I’m planning to contact Apple support next week to discuss this issue. I should mention I too have an Iphone 6 but my upgrade to IOS 11 was successful. We purchased our phones almost 1 year apart leading me to think something was changed in the manufacture of the phone itself. I assume they were both made in the same country but maybe a different facility or a BOM change??? Something along those lines. I just cannot believe Apple would leave so many ppl with what the previous commentor called a “glorified brick”. But who knows, they are making so much money, maybe they just don‘t care.

Yes, pretty interesting.. mine is one of the "first round" in the US, maybe it's has a connection..

but like I said earlier, I managed to solve this problem with "ReiBoot 6.9.2" ( and maybe luck I guess.. )

Also interesting that someone from Apple has now clicked “recommend” to the answer above about taking the faulty phone to the Apple Store, which we did. So they are obviously and undeniably aware of the issue now.
