Something happened yesterday in Apple world. Both my iPad Pro and my iPhone 7, both with current iOS, lost the clock screen....again. Additionally, on my iPhone the home button froze up too. As usual, reboot is the temporary fix. This has not happened on either of the devices in aWhile. Nothing has changed on either of my Devices. Come on Apple… Figure out what’s happening. This is been going on way too long.
That worked for me too....not sure if anyone else noticed this or not but this bug also effects your use of the control center function when your screen is locked. I sometimes swipe up to use my camera quickly when the screen was locked and that function didn't work either. Changing it to zoomed has worked. I haven't change it back to standard yet to just test out how long it lasts before moving back to standard view.
I have the same issue. I was sble to fix it by restarting my phone, but when I woke up this morning it was bugged again..
Same here.
After restart the clock comes back but after few hours is gone again. Applllllllllllle?
I have removed ALL widgets and updated to IOS 11.2 beta 4 and so far so good. I’ll update again if the bug reappears.
Do you have ANY widgets enabled?
Powering it off and on works but after a while of normal use it goes back to not showing the clock, and it won’t show any pop up text notifications. This is really annoying!!
I began having this issues on my iPhone 7 following the iOS 11 update. I reset the phone and set up as new. Nothing. Took the phone into apple countless times. They reinstalled 11, reset the phone again as new. Nothing. They gave me a brand new 7. Same thing. All the same steps again. I decided to upgrade to the 8 figuring that would get rid of the issue. After all, the 8 came installed with iOS 11... Set it up as new.. SAME THING. Take it back in. They swapped it out for another new 8. Mind you, it cost me money to upgrade in terms of new applecare and tax, for a phone I really didn't want as I was happy with my 7 and planned to own it in a year. I get a call back from applecare and they escalate it to engineering. They ask for a diagnostic and screenshot of the blank screen, and I provide it. The woman was very helpful at first, now she won't return my calls...
Nothing works for this issue. I thought possibly I had a corrupt file in the cloud, however, I have no problem with my iPad Air 2 running iOS 11.0.3 (same as my phone) and I have everything synced. So that's not it. Thought it was a horoscope website I started using. Cleared my Safari history and it stayed away for 8 days (!!!) before happening again. NOTHING WORKS to keep this horrible bug from returning.
Spoke with Apple support person assigned to my case, which has been escalated about 2 weeks ago. Evidently they did not receive my screenshots or diagnostic, however engineering no longer needs this as it is now recognized as a problem. Reportedly, they are working on a fix.
I’ve been working with a senior tech person from Apple for awhile now. I’ve sent screen shots and diagnostics. I’ve been through 4 phones with this because they kept swapping them out. My kids don’t have the problem with their iPhone 8+’s. I’ve had it in two 7’s and two 8’s. I’m convinced there is no permanent fix. I’ve been told they are working in a fix, but I’m not holding my breath.
In my opinion, iOS 11 should never have been released. It is so clunky on every phone I’ve had it on. It seems they’ve put so much focus on developing the hardware for the X that everything else was not made a priority.

Iphone 6S 128 Gb with the latest iOS 11.2 installed.
Not random luck. Many people have reported continued success with the removal of the discover widget. Some others have reported success with the removal of other banking apps. If you use Visa, I would suggest removing that one first. I went from having to reboot up to five times per day for 6 weeks and through four brand new phones, to not at all for the past 20 days and counting.
I restarted my phone and clock came back for awhile but disappeared again.
Restarting is a temporary fix. The problem occurs again after an indeterminate time. Even on 11.1.2.
Please fix this.
Thank you for your post, I have the Discover Card widget and have been having this problem as well, I just removed the widget upon reading this and am hoping for success.
I removed that widget two months ago and haven’t seen the issue since. It was happening every few days before that.
