Mbaghurst... don't fear! This problem will be fixed. Apple is fully aware of the problem. I was one of the first to call and complain about this issue. Apple tech elevated my case to senior tech support and they called me back a couple times after that. I have sent them all kinds of data files and others have too. I have never seen them jump so fast like this in the past which tells me it is a common issue and they got flooded with calls. They are taking this issue very seriously.
Two things can happen....
The first, a software update will come and fix the problem. It could happen as early as next week (just a guess from me). It is extremely possible this is a software issues. I have experienced bad bluetooth connections before that simply required a software update to fix. I tested two different boxes... one from an early production line and the other from a later production. Both had the same issue. I can't imagine the bluetooth hardware on the non-4K is any different than the 4K boxes. The only difference is the older model is bluetooth 4.0 and the newer model is 5.0 but that shouldn't make a difference. I do know that both have different software just like every other Apple product. They could have screwed up the code in the 4K boxes only which is why the non-4K boxes still work flawlessly.
The second, if it truly is a hardware defect they will replace your unit up to a year after the purchase. All of their devices have an automatic year warranty on defective hardware with Apple. So just sit back and relax. Wait for the software update. If Apple determines it is not the software and we have defective hardware in our units they will give us all a new one.
