Excessively large files with Compressor on High Sierra

Hi,

I just found out that every single files that I export with my own preset on Compressor 4.3.2 since using High Sierra are :

1. Extremely large: One export before High Sierra was 3.75GB now the same file using the same export is 12.82GB for a 7-minutes long video.

2. Do not play smoothly on QT or VLC

FIY, the Estimated file size shown by Compressor is 30.01GB/Hour... How can a 7 minutes long video be 12GB then????

I double check my Custom Settings and they are the same as they used to be.

Am I the only one with this problem? Any ideas??

It's fixed in Compressor 4.4! Well, at least for me with one project exported from FCPX.

I believe if one waited for the High Sierra update for the video pro apps next week just before the FCP Creative Summit in Cupertino, one would get an app that functions properly with HS. There are a ton of issues with all video pro apps and HS at this time, contrary to the statement Apple posted saying they're already compatible. They've not had HS updates yet, one more week, until then, it's all just beta testing...

Same problem here.

We have trash preferences of compressor and did not help.

We have 4 Mac Pro Late 2013

3 of them have been updated to High Sierra and all of them have that problem. No matter wich presets ( Default or Custom) we use, the exported file have a huge file size than estimated.

The remaining Mac Pro with Sierra compress with the correct estimated file size.

Hi,

When I previously said I have found a perfect workaround for compressing to 1080p at 15Mbps, suitable for Vimeo and Youtube.

1) Export master file from FCPX

2) Import master file into iMovie and Share to Vimeo or Youtube

....may I expand on this.

You can also export a perfectly compressed file to your Mac and select the bit rate and either quick encode or multi pass encode settings.

I imagine this is what Apple would have advised us if the information had been reported on this thread.

I hope this helps.

I had a discussion on the same theme over at the FCPX Forum.

Take a look:

Exported Videos much too large in High Sierra

I tried with the cloud-generator too, and the problem remained

Output in Sierra:

The project in which the problem first occured was also with footage from a GH4 - but shot in 1080/50p.

But the project for the screenshots above was done only with the cloud-generator and no imported footage.
