Excessively large files with Compressor on High Sierra

Hi,

I just found out that every single files that I export with my own preset on Compressor 4.3.2 since using High Sierra are :

1. Extremely large: One export before High Sierra was 3.75GB now the same file using the same export is 12.82GB for a 7-minutes long video.

2. Do not play smoothly on QT or VLC

FIY, the Estimated file size shown by Compressor is 30.01GB/Hour... How can a 7 minutes long video be 12GB then????

I double check my Custom Settings and they are the same as they used to be.

Am I the only one with this problem? Any ideas??

Hi Russ,

So here you are 2 screenshots, I hope it will have everything you ask for. This was with another video I made yesterday. Please remember that I did not change the settings prior or before upgrading to High Sierra => I haven't changed anything in Compressor.

As you can see Compressor announce something like 1.86GB for the file (it is usually quite accurate) but the output file is in this case 5.55GB.

Thank you

I used the presets for "publish on youtube" on this one.

As I was hoping to fix the problem, I did a complete clean install of high sierra – did not help.

What makes it worse: There does not seem to be an easy way to switch back to sierra on my Macpro because you cannot delete a hard drive with the 10.13 file system with the installer of 10.12.

The installer that was taken off the App Store anyway (and of which I - by pure luck - still have a copy).

This is what comes out when I process the same input file with exactly the same stettings with 10.12:

I had a discussion on the same theme over at the FCPX Forum.

Take a look:

Exported Videos much too large in High Sierra

I tried with the cloud-generator too, and the problem remained

The project in which the problem first occured was also with footage from a GH4 - but shot in 1080/50p.

But the project for the screenshots above was done only with the cloud-generator and no imported footage.

They could not replicate the problem and we just tried on my Mac with "Generator" and using Clouds and then Compressor exported the file like it should at the correct size.

They suggested I send them some of my footage to check, which I did... we will see.

FIY, my videos were shot in 4K 8Bit 420 on a GH4 and 4K 10Bit 422 on a GH5, what about you?
