I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
I was having the same issue, and after up dating to IOS 11.2.5 I no longer deal with it!
So, maybe they heard you!
Settings>Notifications>Music>turn off Show On Lock Screen

I have tried every thing and nothing works.
Maybe me was a temp fix after I deleted the app, but it lingers here and there instead of all the time

EDIT: it's back! This doesn't work permanently!! Apple: please fix!!!
I did the steps again and it worked last night and this morning.
I did this: Settings/TouchID &Passcode/put in passcode/Today View-switch to off.

iPhone 6s recent update and same problem. Nothing gets shot of the blasted music player in locked screen Apple need to sort it in next fix. VERY IRRITATING 😡

Settings -> Notifications, Scroll down to Music and toggle off where it says "Show On Lock Screen". Shut down the phone, start it up and it disappeared for me.
Shut phone off and it goes away on reboot
