I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.
Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.
However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.
It was only a temporary fix. It has now shown back up on my iPhone X w/ iOS 11.2.6

i am having the same problem. i could barley read my email pop ups as the iTunes window took up the whole screen.
i deleted iTunes and the **** window is still showing up.
Looks like a pathetic attemp by Apple to remind you that Apple Music is there.
You can turn it off in the Settings > Apple Music menu.
Seriously??? No, that does not make it go away!

Never mind. The fix didn’t last. The widget spontaneously reappeared in a couple of hours
I've tried every solution and setting. Nothing works permanently. Wait, I know what works - buy a Samsung!!!!!
