How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.

Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.

However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.

I was having the same issue on my iPhone 5se after software upgrade to iOS 11.2.5. After reading many replies on the Apple Community, here is what I did and it seems to have corrected the problem. I hope it works for you too:

Go to Settings, then Notifications. Scroll down to find Music, tap once and make the settings look like this:

Then back to home screen, close out all apps, and power down. Power back on after a minute or two. Enter passcode (or whatever YOU do after turning on phone). Press sleep button. Now press home button and hopefully no more music control banner! Worked for me :-)

What else would be happening on your lock screen? Swipe up from the bottom and you'll see your notifications.

YouTube will also cause the player widget on the lock screen to appear.

1-On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Music and turn off “Show Apple Music”

2-Force close the Music app by double pressing the home button and and swipe up on the Music app’s preview. The reopen again.

3-Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Your Apple ID > Sign Out in the popup menu that will appear. Now go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Sing In and enter your Apple ID and password.

4-Restart your device.

I must be blessed or have good karma or something. After updating to the 11.2.1 (I know, it doesn't work for everyone), it really did clear it up once and for all. I've connected via bluetooth to my car several times over the past 5 days to play music, audio books, connected it to a Bose wireless speaker, etc. When I stop using it, the music app disappears just like it's supposed to. I don't think it's an Apple conspiracy to wreck your lock screen or force anyone to use anything. It's just a bug.

This happens to me after I’ve been in my car. So the music player pops up with audio Bluetooth. The problem is it then never goes away from my lock screen. I can disable Bluetooth and it still won’t go away from my lock screen. I have to restart the phone to get it to go away. This has only started since the recent iOS update.

A few posts back, you mentioned that Apple recommended “solution was to restart the phone from scratch, delete everything and remake the phone as brand-new”.

I took that as that I needed to erase my phone and start all over. Is that what you did? Or just “forgot” all of your Bluetooth devices, and reloaded them? I’m confused.

My PC took a dump, and I just refuse to buy another PC, because I never used it. so now I’m struggling with the fact that iProducts require you to have a PC to connect them to iTunes for diagnostic/repair services- or to backup/restart your phones..

Changing the zoom on my phone, and then changing it back worked for me. You do this by going to Settings, Display and Brightness, and then go to the bottom and select View. Change your zoom to Zoomed, let your iPhone restart, and then change it back. This advice was given to me by an iPhone tech when I wasn’t getting any notifications on my lock screen, and it has worked for this problem for over an hour now; longer than anything else has worked.

I tried every suggestion I could find in the comments and nothing worked for me. Closed all tabs in safari, opened anything that accessed my speaker which was only pandora and YouTube, played it, paused it, swiped it away. Didn’t work. The only thing that worked I turned off my Bluetooth and turned my phone off and back on. No more music widget on lock screen. From what I’ve read it will probably be an issue again as soon as I play music from my phone in my car. Before I had an iPhone I had to restart my android every so often to get it run better, and all my iPhone friends claimed they never had to do that. NOW iPhone has to be restarted everytime you’re simply done listening to music just to get the dang music widget to go away. Very frustrating and very inconvenient.
