iphone 8 poor/sensitive mic during call

Try as I did, no resolution here. I'm living with a partially functional, 4 month old 8+, for now. Still no Apple support people trying to assist us with these forum posts. Shameful, apple only interested in more sales of half baked products and profits. That mission statement will not serve apple well moving forward.

So True, So True!!! Apple will not be fixing this issue. I just dont think they have enough people complaining or setting up a lawsuit....I too had a 4 month old Iphone 8 Plus that I had replaced 3 times. Still , every replacement phone had the same mic issues and massive delays. I also kept getting kicked out to the home screen from apps. Restarted my phone all the time, removed and re-installed apps, and zero fixes. Apple has to be the one to fix this. So , I basically jumped ship and went to Samsung. There is a way you can get out of your Iphone 8 if you are under contract with your carrier. Go with Samsung. All Apple is worried about is designing and marketing an ALL RED Iphone 8. Who the flip cares!!! If we, Apple's faithful customers, cannot use our $1,000 phones with the basic, basic , phone function, why would we want a Red one...Apple needs to get their priorities straight!! Who really cares that an animal emoji moves! So many of us are having issues with Brand New Phones, I dont get it and its been months since they came out. What my understanding is, is, these new phones have 3 different Mic's which is the problem. The noise cancellation mic, gets used and its turning off the mic you need when making a call. So its turning off the wrong mic or turning off 2 out of the 3 mics. I always had people telling me, I can barely hear you......this is why, the mic isnt working right. Trust me, i've gone into settings and turned the option off and still no fix. So Apple has some big time issues happening right now. Quick making new fancy colored phones, (RED) and fix the ones we have already Bought and are trying to use for Work!! Even their Mac Books have a screen recall on them..... The company is going south everyone!!!! Thats why I totally switched to Samsung, I'm Totally Done with Apple Phones!!!

Very nicely written. We need someone like you to fight for us. Same experience I had. Bought an iPhone 8 with Apple Care. The audio was terrible for anyone I called. They couldn’t hear a **** thing! Finally took the Verizon chip out and went back to an old 6s plus. All ok now. I would be petrified of getting a new iPhone now - no matter what new features they add. Because of my bad experience with the IPhone 8, I started watching YouTube videos on iPad Rehab about the technical end of fixing iPhones with Jessa Jones. The story of Apple‘s decline gets even worse as you start to examine the underbelly of Apple. Apple would even put water damaged parts back into an iPhone when repairing it. Many repair people are enraged at Apple‘s poor design. Yet the media barely writes about it. Even Apple Insider isn’t aware how mediocre Apple has gotten. After years with Apple products - I have to admit I am opening my eyes to Samsung. Steve Jobs would roll in his grave if he knew how far his own company has declined.

I FIGURED IT OUT! I'm on my 4th iPhone 8. Tried EVERYTHING you are all talking about including:

-Turning On voLTE, Turn Off volTE,

-Using Earbuds (which works ok especially if the phone is put flat),

-Treating it like a Wi controller (which also worked but only for 30 to 60 seconds then needed a reload),

-Replace Verizon SIM card,

-Restore Phone,

-Restart Phone,

-Repeat, etc!

My phone now works great after I accidentally dropped it and shattered the glass on the back. Its shattered but not falling off, its intact. It's like the uneven glass forced the microphone to stop canceling out my own voice. Now I'm not recommending that everyone go shatter the glass on the back of your phone, but for once my phone is working perfectly. Evil, Sad, head shake coming from me now. But after 2 months and 4 phones, it works perfectly. Discuss.

Can you please tell us the exact spot that got cracked on your phone ? If possible provide a photo , maybe we can use your accident to fix our phones by softly knocking on the same spot to get the magic done :)

HAHAHAA..... so I know this is an old post. Buttttt I have the answer to allll of our problems. I also have an iphone8... when holding our phones. Our pinkies. Cover the microphone on the bottom left. Which looks like speaker but it’s not. Anyway it blocks the sound... try not covering it up and watch what happens 😂😂 magic

I’ve just been in to the Apple store and they’ve agreed to swap mine out for the second time, praying that this sorts it but not very hopeful.

The guy in there said that with the WWDC around the corner they will probably release a quite big update so maybe this is something else that could help.

I actually upgraded from the 6 to the 8. Really wish I hadn’t now.

When I mentioned about maybe changing up to the X the genius fella said they’d had a fair few issues with that as well.

I don’t want to move away from iPhone to android but I may be left with no other option.

Since I bought the iPhone8 people complain that they can not hear me very well. Before had the iPhone 4S and the iPhone6 and never had this problem. The call is started with normal call quality but then the other party can hardly hear me. Ten seconds later the problem seems gone. Get this complaint often from people that call me.

I bought a 6s after my third iPhone 7 still suffered from the same problem. After learning that the 8 and X had the same issue, I decided to skip them and wait for this year‘s models. If the problem turns out to persist with those, I’ll probably try to get hold of another 6s as a spare. However, I desperately want to believe that Apple will finally have done something about it.

There are indications of both. Software could explain it, but also it is strange that speakerphone and earpods work if that was the case.

For me I have also noticed that the problem goes away in certain locations (ironically where the reception is worse) so that would indicate possible hardware issue.

When making a call on my IPhone 8plus my voice Is garbled and can not be understood what I am saying. Please help me fix what is wrong. Started doing this abt a month ago. Everything else works fine. ATT says they can’t help me. Is a new phone.

I have exactly the same problem with my iPhone 8. It’s so embarrassing to have a new iphone (costing €870) and have such issues during making a call. I return it complaining about the problem and after 2 weeks I got it back and the problem still there. What can we do? Apple please support us.

August 2018, still no fix. No point in trying to swap phones here in Finland since the retailer doesn’t give a new IPhone in replacement, we only get ”factory repaired” **** in return. Also not much fun buying new shield protectors all the time.

Nice one apple, the new X is a eat phone except it isn’t a PHONE.

I’ve been using iPhones since 2008 and now with this X I’m turning into EX-apple user :x

Guys, it’s microphone problem. It’s on hardware not on software. It’s not gonna fix by updating. End of story. I had the same problem. Had to change my phone in order to fix it. My 8 plus was problematical now my X is working perfectly.
