Apple TV 4K Netflix No Video

Apple TV 4k, Netflix: Audio only, no Video. restored ATV to factory, reinstalled NF app, cable is compliant, AVR settings and TV settings ok as no issue in other apps. Worked fine until today. OS 11.1. everything has been reset, reinstalled, rebooted, and reconnected. Any ideas? NF works fine through the app on the TV as well as the app on the cable box.

The only thing I can add to this conversation is that Netflix and the new TV 4K got along fine for a couple of weeks, we had no issues. Suddenly several days ago after no changes by us (though possible TV 4K update because it's set to auto-update) Netflix video disappeared. Still have audio and sub-titles, but the main picture is black.

As others are reporting, every other app source (YouTube, Crackle, TED, etc.) works fine. Our television is a Sony Bravia 1080p, not 4K.

Well tonight the Apple TV 4K started acting up again, so the no sleeping Apple TV did not stop the dreaded problem. Today Apple has released the OS 11.2.5 which is what’s I have been testing for a couple of weeks and had the same issue as everyone else. Hopefully Apple was able to clean up the beta software to fix this problem. I am not sure why the keeping the Apple TV from sleeping worked as long as it did for me. Must of been some anomaly that gave me false hope. Let’s hope for the best on this latest OS release.

I have also tried deleting Netflix and reinstalling and it does not work. Everyone needs to realize this is not isolated just to Netflix. Has everyone updated to the 11.2.5 and tried this to see if the problem is gone. So far for me everything is working, but I thought I had resolved this before by keeping the Apple TV from sleeping. Now only time will tell.

I bought new Sony Bravia 4K and ATV 4K - no issues watching any videos for the first few days. Really happy and satisfied. Then the EXACT issues described started, only difference was that I received a screen notification

This content requires HDCP for playback. HDCP isn’t supported by your HDMI connection.

My HDMI is high quality brand new and complies with apples specs so I immediately check this site for info!

A hard reset back to factory settings on the Apple TV and a similar check update of TV OS seems to have fixed issue- although based on everything I have read in this thread it is likely to reoccur.

Thanks

Same issue here with a brand new top of the line Sony 4K TV and brand new Apple TV 4K. Installation completed by Best Buy Geek Squad. Installer had to return, issue not solved. Replaced Apple TV box, issue not solved. Only restart works, very annoying. This is clearly an issue between Netflix and Apple TV 4K. Sad to see that despite all the posts this is not resolved.

Adds to my list of all things Apple that are not working well these days: iPhone battery life, poor performance / speed on all family mobile devices, time machine backups for our iMacs and deceptive practices to make us loyal customers upgrade devices that should have a longer life span. I truly hope Apple gets is back together.

It does help if everyone makes a remark to Netflixs customer service, but man, do they keep you busy.

First I had to try a different HDMI cable - no result

Then a different HDMI port - no result

Then a different TV, which I do not have

Then power off on both apple tv and TV set, and turn the HDMI cable around (😮) - come on guys...

I have no time for these games in between a hard days work and enjoying Netflix (after a reboot of the ATV to make it work).

Just wanted to add another angry voice to the mix.

Brand new Sony Bravia OLED TV, got the Apple TV 4K to match and I’m having the same issue, both with Netflix and the amazon prime app. It happening with multiple apps leads me to believe it’s the Apple TV software rather than anything else.

I’ve spoken with Apple support and I have a callback arranged for tomorrow. Phone operator had no answer whatsoever. Something tells me a solution isn’t imminent.

Hey folks. Do you have the Apple TV connected directly to the TV or is it connected to a receiver?

My Apple TV 4th generation, stopped outputting video a few days ago. However, if its connected directly to my Pioneer 141FD it works fine. Also, if i connect it to the single V1.3 HDMI input in my Yamaha receiver, it works. However, if I connect it to any of the HDMI V2.2 inputs on the rear, it will not. Seems to be a HDMI handshaking error Issue.

Since the latest update to the beta software for the 4K Apple TV I have had no issues. I even allow the Apple TV to sleep again and still seems to work as before the problem developed. I would say this has always been a software issue and not with everyone’s TV or HDMI cables. The common denominator has always been the Apple TV. Apple is probably giving the beta testers time to evaluate the latest software. I for one have had no issues since the update. So everyone just needs to buy some time here for Apple to release the public software update. Seems like a long time for Apple to fix this issue as it has been a nightmare for everyone with the 4K Apple TV for way too long, but it looks like relief is on the way.
